Heading to Maine end of July. Spending time in Camden, Bar Harbor and Boothbay. Any recommendations welcome.
Arcadia national park is beautiful although a bit crowded. Drive around the harbor to the way less visited Scoodic Peninsula park which I enjoyed more. Camden is quaint but not much to do. Also, go up in the Ponobscot bridge tower on your drive from Camden to Bar Harbor

What do you do there outside of snow time?
No idea. We've never been there. It was available through our timeshare so we booked it.

We'll go eat, watch movies, maybe visit a winery or two, some light hiking depending on the weather, and just enjoy being together with no responsibilities. (Other than checking in with work every morning, which sucks, but it makes it easier when I go back.)

Every time I've been to Maine I've enjoyed lots of lobster, beer, and blueberry stuff. I've spent most of my time in Portland and can highly recommend it but from what I've seen you can't go wrong.

I like lobster but have never had it in Maine. I enjoy the little Florida Spiny Lobsters we have here. That said...the price of lobster is outrageous. Those things used to be peasant food and now the price is crazy. People trying to get $35 for a lobster roll down here on a food truck.

I bet the prices in Maine are way better.

Wife and I were eating $4-$5 lobster rolls daily up in Maine. Incredible.

Lobster
Holy Donut if you get to Portland. Some say best donuts in the country. One lasted me 3 days.
Lobster
Other cold water fish.
Holy Donut x2. All made with potato flour if I remember right. The blueberry one is incredible.

Finally doing Route 66 in September...question for those that might know 4 corners area We want to do 4 corners monument...would it be a more scenic drive from Tucumcari>4 Corners>Holbrook or Holbrook>4 Corners>Laughlin also is Monument Valley worth an 90 minute detour or are the along the way formations just as scenic? TIA! 20210622_171518.jpg20210622_171501.jpg

Haven't been to Bar Harbor in a very long time. The engineer I was working with at Jackson Lab (near bar harbor) was named Steven King (not the writer) he sent me to an Victorian house for dinner. Probably not there anymore, but what they told me was that when ordering lobster you want a 1 1/2 pounder as the big ones aren't as good.

One of my favorites. Such a beautiful island.
It has been incredible. The people here are the nicest of any country I've been to. We're with a group of friends on this one but the wife and I are already planning on a full Caribbean tour for ourselves in the next year or two.

The morning view rocks!

What resort are you at? I have always wanted to stay at Anse Chastanet that overlooks the Pitons. It looks so gorgeous. But it's like $500-$1000 a night or some thing like that last I looked. Plus airfare was outrageous last I looked as well. The hole trip would have been like $7000, and that's a little too rich for my taste.

We rented a villa in Gros-Islet that one of the folks on the trip found. It's called Villa Paradise. The whole week for this place was something like $1200/couple, about $3600/week. But we're in the off season too.

We've probably spent about that much on Piton beer too.

I love Piton beer. Wish it was available here.

Was this place all-inclusive? $1200 for the week isn't bad at all. And how much were plane tickets?
