Just booked a cabin in Gatlinburg for next weekend, it's the wife's birthday. I know it's fairly cliche but we have never been to Gatlinburg other then a day trip in college. Recommendations for food and activities appreciated.

Make chili with lots of beans

I like The Peddler for a decent steak.

Have traveled to 42 of 50 states. In the lower 48, best place had to be the Grand Canyon in
Arizona. Second would be the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone in Wyoming. Alaska is a different beauty than the lower 48. Did an inside passage cruise in 2004. Have traveled to the following countries: Germany, France, Belgium, UK (England, Wales, Scotland), Greece, Japan (Okinawa). Europe was really nice. Not sure which country I enjoyed most. Lived in England for 4 years (1980-1984).
Have also done cruises in the Caribbean (Eastern, Western and Southern).

Traveling to Panama in a few weeks for business. Specifically in Colon, but staying in Panama City. Anyone have lodging recommendations and good, safe places to eat that aren't full of the typical tourists?

Love PCB. Get a Big Johnson T shirt while you are there. Club La Vela is hot too

Panama Florida? If so, pineapple willys, great ribs.

In the early 90s Colon was extreamly dangerous, it's most definitely changed by now but be careful.

Booked a cruise on one of the new Royal Caribbean mega-ships. The kids are stoked.

If you have the time I highly recommend taking a ninety minute drive to the Xunantunich ruins outside of San Ignacio. It was beautiful. If interested you are also a half mile from Guatemala as well.

I second the Xunantunich recommendation. Tikal in Guatemala is also spectacular, but not something you would do from Belize City on a day trip.

I just booked flights for the wife and I to go to Zurich, staying there for a couple of days. Then headed north to Germany to see her brother in Stuttgart. We have 10ish or so days. Any recommendations on things to do/see. We are going to fly home out of Berlin so we have to eventually make our way up there.

I got to spend a couple of summers in Germany. Don't really have any specific touristy advice for Stuttgart or Berlin as I wasn't in either city. I always enjoyed doing "normal" stuff like having dinner at a quiet restaurant or watching a sporting event when possible. Have fun, I hope to get to take my wife to visit her brother over there sometime in the next few years.

hit the Checkpoint Charlie area in Berlin. Lots of great exhibits and museums about it and the era.

Berlin Zoo is very good. Much more relaxed than here. Will sell you bags of food you can feed to some of the animals. The elephants take the food from your hand.

be sure to get a currywurst with pommes and mayonaise. Curry 36 is pretty darn good
