Vacation / Travel

I got to spend a couple of summers in Germany. Don't really have any specific touristy advice for Stuttgart or Berlin as I wasn't in either city. I always enjoyed doing "normal" stuff like having dinner at a quiet restaurant or watching a sporting event when possible. Have fun, I hope to get to take my wife to visit her brother over there sometime in the next few years.

That's exactly what we like to do. I'm bummed I can't find a soccer match to go to. Germany has a wc qualifier on the 10th but we will still be in Zurich. Bundesliga ends May 20th.

hit the Checkpoint Charlie area in Berlin. Lots of great exhibits and museums about it and the era.

Berlin Zoo is very good. Much more relaxed than here. Will sell you bags of food you can feed to some of the animals. The elephants take the food from your hand.

be sure to get a currywurst with pommes and mayonaise. Curry 36 is pretty darn good

I have Checkpoint Charlie on the list. I love everything history so I'm sure we will find plenty to see. Pretty stoked about it all.

I just booked flights for the wife and I to go to Zurich, staying there for a couple of days. Then headed north to Germany to see her brother in Stuttgart. We have 10ish or so days. Any recommendations on things to do/see. We are going to fly home out of Berlin so we have to eventually make our way up there.

drink lots of Kristal Weiss Beer, and eat pommes frites mit mayo

serious though have fun

for breakfast (if you're not at a hotel), go find the nearest bakery and get rolls for breakfast. To be true German, you would get sliced meats and cheeses to each with them. And DO NOT forget the butter.

Find an Imbis for lunch. they are stand up fast food place but you'll find a variety of awesome food. Personally I'd suggest somewhere with gyros and get a donner box.

Pizza is an experience because there are stuff you'd never find here. Corn, tuna fish, artichoke, etc...Ps order peperoni you get salami. Order pepperochini you'll get an extrememly hot pepper, not the green one we have. Be prepared to eat it with fork and knife.

enjoy I'm so jealous

Just booked a family trip to Kauai in August

Best damn place in the World. I hope to retire there if I make it that long. Where on the island are you staying? North, central, or south?

Grab a BBQ sandwich from Dukes. Best I've ever had.

We are staying on the south shore at Poipu. I've had Dukes in Maui and they have one here nearby in Huntington Beach. Good stuff

Never been before. We are staying in Poipu. South shore

I highly recommend Waimea Canyon. Also, Maha‘ulepu just past the Hyatt is a fun place to explore. If your kids can handle a long day, go up to Hanalei and on to Ke'e beach. It is amazing on the North Shore, but it does make for a long day.

Awesome. Thanks for the tips

Just returned from a 5 day trip to the Kenai with my daughter. Chartered one day out of Homer for kings. Did well, and had a great time catching a fish species that was high on my list for years.

That's me holding the fish... wiseguy is the deckhand, who did an awesome job landing fish for us.

We had our fish processed and frozen, they arrived today. So, next is to try them cooked on cedar planks on the grill.

Much like the area in Montana where I live, just upticked a bit.
