Vaccine or not?

Here are my thoughts on Ivermectin.

While I think the “Horse dewormer” title is quite amusing, I have nothing truly ill to say about Ivermectin. It is not used exclusively for horses, and has been used for treating parasitic infections in humans for certain diseases (although probably not the most common anti parasitic). I’m not going to go out of my way to undermine its potential efficacy in treating covid, but do we have solidified literature on how to use it for Covid specifically? What is the recommended dose? How often? How long should one stay on it? Should people take it prophylatially? (Probably not feasible for a population to all take a medication for prophylaxis.)

If Ivermectin ends up somehow turning into a drug that can decrease mortality and morbidity for those who are infected, then great. We already have a fantastic option in terms of prophylaxis being the vaccine. I do think it would be foolish to substitute the vaccine with ivermectin in that regard. For one it would be considerably more expensive and exhausting to take medication indefinitely. Second, ivermectin likely isn’t intended to be taken for months or years (what are the long term side effects of prolonged ivermectin?). Hopefully ivermectin can save lives in the hospital. But getting vaccinated is the most feasible way of decreasing your odds of getting hospitalized.
Why ivermectin should not be used to prevent or treat COVID-19

Over an 18 month period... while that same number, if not fewer, die of heart disease and other lifestyle/dietary issues every 12 months in this country.

Relax

The fact that covid deaths are even remotely in the same sphere as death from heart disease is absolutely tragic. Don’t try to downplay that. 1/4th of the population doesn’t need to die for us to consider this a disastrous event.

You don't have to take it as a prophylaxis. If you take it as soon as you have symptoms, it will work in an overwhelming majority of cases.

Did I say 1/4 of humanity had to die?

Or am I saying that we should have more options than just an experimental vaccine?

If we are in such dire straits, there should be nothing taken off the table.

I'm not saying it should be made available. I'm just saying that I would rather chose another option.
The whole reason for the vaccine is to prevent covid and not pass covid to other people, so if you wait to have symptoms before you know to treat yourself, you
could spead it to another person that way

Lol, that narrative about the vaccine has passed. The new narrative is you won't get as sick.

The negative narrative about Ivermectin I think will crumble sooner or later. You and the writers of that story are going to look ridiculous.

I think there are other options for many than just vaccines but that is all they want you to consider. I hope this gets disclosed at some point. Fortunately I’ve been a Pfizer shareholder for years.
