Vaccine or not?

Doesn't Imposing a fine require a law to do so? What law do they think is on the books that allows the Feds to issue fines for non-compliance with their COVID edicts? More COVID fascism from the demented Biden

Id suspect he'll weaponize OSHA to get around that...

The rule is being “developed.” Meaning it’s still months away at best and probably will never take effect.

The main point of Biden's speech is to give larger businesses the "legal and PR cover" needed to mandate vaccinations for their workforce.

(This isn't opining on the actual merits of mandated vaccinations for a workforce. Ultimately, that should be up to a business to decide.)

A speech doesn’t give legal cover. And a “non-law”mandate doesn’t either.

It gives PR cover though. There's a lot of businesses that want to mandate vaccinations but haven't done so yet. It will likely be via OSHA regulation and not a law. Companies that want to mandate will say "We want to get in compliance with proposed OSHA regulations..." as their rationale.

Again, not taking sides. Just pointing out where I think the Biden admin is coming from.

Jacobson v. Massachusetts is the seminal case regarding a state or municipality’s authority to institute a mandatory vaccination program as an exercise of its police powers. 8 In Jacobson, the Supreme Court upheld a Massachusetts law that gave municipal boards of health the authority to require the vaccination of persons over the age of 21 against smallpox, and determined that the vaccination program instituted in the city of Cambridge had “a real and substantial relation to the protection of the public health and safety.”9 In upholding the law, the Court noted that “the police power of a State must be held to embrace, at least, such reasonable regulations established directly by legislative enactment as will protect the public health and the public safety.”10 The Court added that such laws were within the full discretion of the state, and that federal powers

The key word here is "laws". The president does not create laws. This has to go through the legislative process in order for your example to be analogous. I don't understand why it's so hard for some people to understand.

Would like to see the Venn diagram of antivax cops and cops with white supremacist views. Betcha there would be substantial overlap.
