Vaccine or not?

That doesn't qualify as a commercial. It is not unethical.

The Sesame Street spot is also not unethical. I would have approached it differently (you can definitely see where HBO has changed it since acquiring it from PBS) but it does not violate the letter or spirit of law.

That wasn’t a commercial I sent you earlier? A 15 second paid advertise that appeared on TV?

The letter nor spirit of law has anything to do with the term ethical. But to be clear you would have an issue with a commercial from the company itself (Johnson and Johnson for example) if it did not mention side effects?

Correct. That counts as a public service announcement as it does not attempt to influence the public towards any particular brand or model of a product. It was paid for by the Ad Council and not funded primarily by any one entity.

If J&J put out the same spot with the same script but added the words J&J before each mention of the word vaccine, then they would be bound by law to mention potential side effects.

The ethical issue is not brand dependent is it? Because you seem to be basing your moral opinion on that.

Why do you keep mentioning the law? Is that how you define your morality? I’ve never stated my issue with the legality

I find it less unethical than 95% of the political adds I see.
If a group put together an anti-vax public service announcement, would you expect them to list all of the known benefits at the end?

I have heard radio commercials by pfizer. They dont mention their shot over the others but definitely name drop who they are. They push getting vaxxed.

Any of it should come with a standard *check with your doctor first*

Politicians never fluff each other in their paid mud slinging. Never seen any product also push the competition.

Seems like the medical reasoning is the active damage done by the product AFTER they push its wonderful benefits.

That’s your standard of ethics? Just be slightly more ethical than politicians?

Do you believe an antivax public service announcement would be allowed?

You're spot on. Always check with a doctor who knows your history before letting someone shove a metal tube into your arm or butt. Could save your life.

I'm 100% supportive of the requirement forcing drug companies to list the side effects of the drugs they are pushing.
I would change the law so that the words must be spoken or shown at the same speed and/or size as the rest of the commercial.

I believe they provide a fair picture of what the public service announcement is wishing to accomplish.

Ted Cruz provides a fair picture of what he wishes to accomplish. AOC provides a fair picture of what she wishes to accomplish.

It seems you’re agreeing with me that a fair picture is not being presented of the risks and benefits of the Covid vaccine

You have a specific picture in mind and are not going to waver from it. Just say that you are not open to a neutral consideration of other positions and move on.
