The song "Sounds like life to me" pisses me off so bad.....If I was having as rough a stretch as the guy in that songs having and Darryl Worley looked at me and said "Sounds like life to me." I'd beat him to death with a pillow case full of batteries.
I lmao!
Like it or not, you are now my best internet friend.
Honestly, I wouldn't know DW if he he pissed down the back of my neck.
Not a country music fan, am I.

Haha who needs real friends when we have internet friends!

A rundown of the song....

Dudes wifes car breaks down...washer quits working....Mom has to go to a nursing home...he's broke and can't afford his bills...and his wife is pregnant again...

And he just says "Sounds like life to me..."

i believe that a rivalry has nothing to do with who wins and loses.

i hate georgia and florida state with the fire of 1000 suns.

if we beat them 20 years in a row, i'll be pissed the year we finally lose.

vandy is clearly a rivalry for tennessee. that is clear based on how much vandy pisses y'all off.

When UT lost to Vandy at home in 2005 my response was, meh. Didn't dislike Bobby Johnson in any way after that loss. Just kinda scratched my head trying to figure out how that could happen and felt a little embarrassed..... but figured it was bound to happen at some point.

UT has won 3 of the last 31. I feel confident the momentum is about to swing back around to our favor.

The ONLY reason I give 2 Shiites about Vandy is because ....

1. Their arrogant, classless prick of a head coach

2. Their ridiculous arrogant fans talking smack about how they own the state after winning 2 straight making them 3-28 the last 31 years. They're the worst fanbase in the SEC given how pathetic their program is. At least Bama has plenty to crow about. Vandy has nothing.

For me it's literally nothing more than that.

Why did you leave out 78-83 and 86-89?
Not try to be a smart a** or anything just wondering why you left those years out.

Did not know that. To your point though I'm not sure using TN vs FL is the best way to prove the Vanderbilt game isn't a rivalry. FL leads the series 24-19 and has won the past 9 but TN has the longest win streak at 10, which FL could very well tie next year, and TN also has the largest margin of victory 45-3.

In contrast the TN vs VU game series is 73-30-5 in favor of TN. I do consider the vandy game a rivalry though probably because I have several vandy fans in my family and always enjoy joking and friendly trash talking with them. Although the past few years have been rough I used to dish it out when won in blowouts against vandy.

I dislike vandy because I dislike them. I consider them a rival because I can. They have won the last two contests and are rubbing it in. Pisses me off, ergo, a rivalry.

I would say that Tennessee/Vandy is a classic in-state rivalry with a lot of history. This gets lost and/or downgraded in some fans' minds since (until recently) we been whipping dey azz on an embarrassingly frequent basis in the modern era.

A few historical facts ...

From Gus Mannings' "Neyland: 50 Facts on 50th Anniversary"
Neyland: 50 Facts on 50th Anniversary - UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics

30.Before Neyland, 10 head football coaches had been hired and fired at Tennessee between 1900 and 1925, their principal failing being the inability to field teams that could beat Vanderbilt.
31.UT Dean Nathan W. Dougherty made the final decision to promote Neyland, telling his new coach to "even the score with Vanderbilt."

While it is not always the most accurate source, from Wikipedia:

"The Tennessee–Vanderbilt football rivalry, nicknamed Hatred in the Hills is an American college football rivalry between the Tennessee Volunteers and Vanderbilt Commodores. Vanderbilt and Tennessee have played 108 times since 1892. Tennessee leads the series 73–30–5. Both teams are founding members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC)."

Also ...

"When the rivalry first started, Vanderbilt went 19–2–3 against the Volunteers. Since
1928, Tennessee has gone 71–11–2 against Vanderbilt. The longest win streak for Vanderbilt is 9 from 1901 to 1913. The longest win streak for Tennessee is 22 from 1983 to 2004."

And they now have a winning streak against us. UT is below their level. Maybe they will lose their bowl game while our guys play in one on their Xboxes.

A two game "win streak"? Okay, but no where are we below their level. That's just stupid. UT is at it's lowest point, the SEC east is at it's lowest point in a decade and you have the gall, the audacity to suggest that UT is below vandy's level? That is pure stupid.

Level = plateau
Level = same plane
Level = on equal ground

No my vandy troll, UT is not below vandys level. We are performing below our own level, and that plane is far above vandys level.

Look at the amount of threads about Franklin and Vandy on this website.....That tells you all you need to know.

Whats that......that by definition he's a successful coach who's energized the fan base....he's a coach who's desired by other organizations as prominent if not more so than Tennessee.....programs that have no interest in Butch Jones...lets be honest with ourselves...

What other organizations want Franklin? I know his name always comes up because he's the flavor of the month in the SEC right now, but what teams have actually gone after him? Been widely reported that neither USC nor Washington even interviewed him. Does anybody think Texas has him on their short list? I've heard that perhaps even the Minnesota Vikings May have some interest in him...guess we'll see.

My point is, nobody really knows how much interest any big time program has in Snakehead. Not saying he's not a good coach because I believe he is. He's a dick, but he's a good coach. But he's going into year 4 at Vandy, a really bad football program.... it's about as far from a "Destination job" as you can possibly get. Why hasn't he left "while the iron is hot" yet if he is in such high demand?

I personally take the high character coach who's won multiple league championships over a 6 year period with 2 different teams and who has currently put together a top 3 recruiting class despite a very difficult rebuild project if I we're an AD .... but that's just me.

For someone who brags about how smart they are in every thread, this post makes no sense...

What does any of that have to do with my post? I simply stated that Vandy is a rivalry.

Perhaps he hasn't shown any interest when other jobs come calling. He has a perfect situation at Vandy. He took a program that had 1 winning season in 30 years to 3 straight bowl games. He's beaten the traditional top 3 teams in the East. He has a winning record vs UT. He has probably one of if not the best coach, AD relationships in college football. Vandy gave him his big break when nobody else would. I respect CBJ he's a good coach but he won at places other guys have had success. Nobody could win at Vandy on a regular basis and Franklin has pulled it off.
