Vick & dog fighting?

Well, my friends at PETA and the Humane Society must have slapped them for their complete disregard of moral decency. Surprisingly even the Rev. Al Sharpton has come out and criticized Vick:eek:hmy:. Before this I thought the Rev. was racist and afraid to go after blacks with the same zeal he crucifies white people with. I have new faith in the Rev.:thumbsup:

I'm no fan of Sharpton and this won't make me one, but you know you've done something bad when he's criticizing a black person.

It's not exactly going out on a limb to condemn a guy who electrocutes dogs.

In refernce to Sharpton, I think he is familiar with taking an idiotic point of view if he can get some press or money out of it. Also to your point, I heard Ryan Stewart from 790AM in Atlanta saying that views from this were breaking down largely along racial lines. That really surprised me. I can't believe so many people are still at determining how they side with people based on the color of their skin. These activities are revolting, I don't care who you are.

Yeah, but just look at the situation. A day ago I really honestly thought Sharpton was a racist and would never condemn a black person. This at least shows he has struck a little balance. So I am open for more in the future. Still, I honestly don’t like the guy either. He probably did this so he would stop getting grilled on all the news shows he goes on about always ONLY attacking whites. Now when they ask he can say, (in Al’s voice) “well, I did condemn Michael Vick.”

I agree, completely. Sad thing is there seems to be much more hatred for whites from blacks than there is the other way around. I am really not trying to start a race debate, but I am sick of hearing how every black guy who gets in trouble is being persecuted because the color of his skin. Could it be they broke the LAW? That irrational logic needs to stop. I think people are getting sick of stuff like that. This case is a perfect example. I have already read some prominent African American blogs that are saying this prosecution is race related. Talk like that leaves me very sad and speechless. In this day in age, my God, we still have issues like this? Oh the humanity!:cray:

Please stop.

Whoa now . . . I'm a Falcons fan and I've probably seen as much of Vick as anybody. Let's be honest. Vick isn't getting any further than his arm and his legs take him. I'm not saying the guy is stupid, but he's not exactly Joe Montana standing back there reading a defense.
I'm talking about the few instances when you just watched him play, and sat back and said to yourself... "Damn. That's some of the best football I've ever seen." You know it's happened. The guy never practiced. Seriously, Vick makes AI look like Vince Papale. I have no doubt that if 7 actually practiced, he could do that week in and week out.

I think part of his problem is that he's too short to see over the line very well, which is why he sometimes seems so much better throwing on the run. They list him at six feet, but from what I've heard that's a stretch.

Plus it's hard to call a guy who lined up once behind the guard "football smart."
It had nothing to do with football, he smoked some wacky tabacky before that game.

I think paid leave is probably the best option for all parties involved. It's going to suck for the Falcons either way.

My bandwagon speech...

First, I never thought MV earned his huge contract initially. What the heck did he ever do to get offered a 10 year/$100M dollar deal to begin with. Get injured every year his first 3 and never paly a full season? Being locked into this idiot is wholly the responsibility of the regime of stupid idiots that always have and always will manage the Falcons.

Second. Remember Jon Rocker. Top league closer. Stupid comment. Career steadily declined into the abyss amid continuing fan/public heckling.

Third. See 1 & 2. Here, there, anywhere. With an indictment, and attempted conviction looming, guilty...he's done. Innocent...he's done. In a couple of years he'll merely be a glorified crack dealer.

Welllll... If you look last season, the best team the Falcons played was probably the Saints. In each of his games against the Saints he passed for less than 40% and no TDs. He did OK running the ball, although he did fumble in each matchup. I'm not sure how Rex Grossman did against NO, but I think it was better than that. Also, Vick's third down completion percentage is below 50. I'm not sold on the idea that he'd be a football god if he just gave a little more effort. There's plenty of guys with the physical tools to play QB in the NFL. Hardly any of them are able to do it at a level that is even close to acceptable.

I'm talking about the few instances when you just watched him play, and sat back and said to yourself... "Damn. That guy is fast." You know it's happened.
That's about the only thing I remember when saying when watching Vick play. Nothing else about him, especially his passing game, has made me think he has revolutionized the QB position. He's a freak athlete that can run and throw it a mile... but that's about it.

He's an entertainer pure and simple. He sells tickets and that is why he's treated the way he is. He's packed the Dome on numerous occasions and Blank hates to see anything happen to his man. Honestly, who puts more money in Blank's pocket? Harrington or Vick?

I hear Blank is pissed at Vick now. I know there's 0% chance we ever see Vick in a Falcons uniform again.

Wait, did you say an Atlanta professional sports arena was actually full at any point in time? Wow.

Next uniform should be orange

Yeah, that guy that founded Home Depot and routinely sells out the Georgia Dome is a real moron.

Are the Falcons partially to blame?

In game of life, Vick blitzed by trouble | ajc.com

..Shielding Vick from temptation quickly gave way to protecting his image..But repeatedly during the past six years, Vick's celebrity, his money and his value to his team helped insulate him from public censure for his actions.

Vick settled a lawsuit last year by a former girlfriend who said he knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease. But the case was closed in such secrecy that the woman's lawyer can't even say why he can't comment on it...After two friends with Vick pocketed someone else's fancy watch at the Atlanta airport, the owner said a Falcons executive offered him money to keep Vick's name out of a police report..

I see MV showing up on "Pros vs. Joes" with other washed up has-beens like John Rocker, Bill Romanowski, Kevin Green and Bill Goldberg.

even better than that, "Dancing With the Stars"

or he might try the Ricky Williams approach, move to a tepee in the middle of the Yukon Territory with his hooka pipe and fight dogs with the local Inuit population.
