Vince Young soap opera

Bud was wrong in taking VY's side, but the beszt thing that may come out of this is Fisher losing his job. It sounds as if Bud is not happy with Fisher as a result of this, and he will only need a few more losses to have a reason to fire Fisher. The Titans will never win a superbowl with Fisher as the head coach, so this may turn out to be good for the Titans in the long run.

Nor will they win one with Young as QB.

Adams is a million years old. If Young isn't going to be the QB, then Nashville has to start all over by drafting another QB, hoping that he isn't a complete flameout, waiting a few years for him to develop, etc. before they're competitive again, and by then Adams may not be there to see it. It's easy to see why he would be kidding himself about how good Young is and why he might pick the QB over the coach if push comes to shove.

I would like to see VY in KC. Cassel is working with smoke and mirrors. Brodie Croyle is not the answer.

But don't you lose almost as much time when replacing a head coach? The Titans need a few things before they are a real Super Bowl contender. Even if Vince could be the guy to take them there, a new head coach would need time and some players to solidify the defense. He would likely bring in a new set of coordinators too. If Adams really wants to win a title then he will break out the pocketbook and let people do their jobs the way they want to.

I don't disagree, but there are more good football coaches out there than there are quality NFL quarterbacks. If you've convinced yourself that you're right about Young, as Adams apparently has, then you probably figure he's a more valuable asset than a coach who can't figure out how to use and/or motivate him.

I don't think Fisher is a fantastic coach or anything, but jettisoning him in order to keep a trainwreck like Young (if that's what it comes down to) would be insanity. I can see how owning a football team for 50 years and having zero championships might lead you to do some desperate stuff, though.

Agreed.

I really doubt Fisher is the coach of the Titans next season.

How anyone can still have a job without winning a playoff game in 6 years amazes me. Almost as much as people questioning why anyone would want him gone.

I know I've said it before a few times, but doesn't the KC staff really like Cassel? Everything I've read suggests Haley and company are happy with / love the guy

....probably because NFL coaches are usually pretty much judged in their job security on how often they make the playoffs, since it's extremely difficult to do in a league that's designed to make every coach who's team doesn't have a Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, etc, end up around .500 more times than not.

They tolerate his ineptness when he gets the W's. He is the embodiment of adequate. And Croyle cant cut it.

Belichick could draft players exclusively out of the sun belt conference and build a playoff team.

just give him some video tapes and that team will become the NFL's next dynasty!

:birgits_giggle:

Anyone saying get rid of Fisher has lost their minds. Fisher would be hired the second he were fired...Vince Young couldn't get more on the open market right now than the league minimum.

Who are you going to replace Fisher with? Wade Phillips, Brad Childress? C'mon, don't be dumb. AND DON'T SAY JOHN GRUDEN! HE WOULD NEVER COME HERE AND TAKE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE CRYPT KEEPER.

they'll say cowher....which honestly to me feels kind of like more of the same

and again why are people so high on gruden? sure he won a super bowl: with Tony Dungy's players, but then over the next 6 years he proceeded to turn the Bucs into an absolute train wreck....they're still recovering from it

He who questions Fisher has no clue at all. I cant imagine, if you are a true fan, why you would be calling for his head.

Seriously, what am I missing?

If you enjoy average football then by all means keep Fisher. You are right, he would be hired the second he was fired but he has gotten stale here. He would have been fired a long time ago in a bigger market.
