By your logic, Skylar McBee, since he basically hit the dagger in an awkward position to kill Kansas.
Prince, Chism, Maze were all more clutch than Hopson.
I hope that changes this year.
Yes, and they are all gone. But at least we know Hopson has the ability to be clutch. As for Skylar McBee, he may be clutch, but he won't be that guy this year because he won't be on the court in those situations. Hopson will be.
Ironic that you think Harris will be that guy but not Hopson. Is it because Harris is a McDonald's All-American??[/QUOTE]
No, it's because I have absolutely no faith in Scotty Hopson being a clutch player. One game against UF doesn't change that.
I believe you are going a little far. If you want to be more specific and say that you have no faith in Scotty Hopson being the one guy we send to the line in a game-winning situation then I will buy it.
But saying you have no faith in Hopson, but you do in Harris doesn't make much sense.
I do think Tatum will be great this year, and may end up being the go-to guy, but I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Hopson may be the best option. A lot can change between now and then.

Where was that change between his freshman and sophomore years? Hell, I don't care if he isn't clutch in the last minute, I just want to see some defense and hustle for the first 39.

This is what I said. I said I have no faith that he's a clutch player.
No one made any predictions on who was going to be the "go-to-guy" next year except you. I just said that I anticipate that Tatum and Harris will be the ones taking the end of game shots. I don't know if they're "clearly" the go-to-guy or not. We are just disagreeing that Hopson is the late game situation master that you think he is
I'm just concerned about one thing: The big bucket. Who we going to when we are down 4, with 3:00 to go, UK is on a run, the crowd is going crazy and we need a bucket here. Last year, it was Wayne. Who is it this year? Harris, Tatum, Hopson, Goins? That's my biggest concern.
so zero faith in Hopson, but you do have faith in Tatum and Harris? please explain.
I'm hopeful that Harris and Tatum will be that type of player. Tatum is much, much tougher than Hopson, and I'm hoping Harris will be as well.
The fact is Scotty Hopson is a finesse player that craps his pants at crunch time. He also wasn't too clutch when he refused to contest a three pointer that buried us in the elite eight. He also wasn't too clutch when he stepped to the line with a chance at a final four and bricked a free throw.
Nothing about him suggests that he is the one that we want to go to at crunch time. But if you want to believe he is, then have at it.

We're not talking about defense. We are talking about who will be taking "THAT" shot. I think it's reasonable that either Hopson or Tatum could. I just don't think you can discount Hopson that easily. I guess if you want to extrapolate their rates of improvement, you might think Tatum will be more improved and a better player than Hopson next season, but at this point I don't see Tatum as having the clear advantage of being the go to guy in the clutch next season.
ok
bit of a moot point. Rarely does the guy to take "the shot" matter. Making FTs, ball security and defensive stops are the late game killers. We do those, we win most.
Nice! I always love it when someone doesn't know how to respond when their logic gets blown up, so they simply decide to post a smiley icon.
Look! :dance2: I can do that too.....
You are demanding answers, so why don't you answer my question: By your logic, Hopson is a clutch player due to a game-winning shot he hit against Florida. If that logic is sound, then Skylar is as well since he killed Kansas with his more difficult shot. So that means Skylar is clutch as well. So why wouldn't he be on the floor in a situation like that along with Hopson?
