Vitello suspended.

White Danny still has 18 level I violations sitting in front of the committee on infractions courtesy of Corbtread and Fulmer, the university has admitted 17 of the 18, but disputed lack of institutional control, if there is documented and verified tampering prior to the player entering the portal, wouldn't want White Danny to help the NCAA prove a significant point in the football case by being greedy in the baseball case, already got over a million tied up in legal fees on the football side, got a bad feeling Monday may be a tipping point and Vittelo and Maui are headed to the MLB level while the stench of Cornbread and Fulmer continue to waft through the athletic department and their relationship with the NCAA.
I guess I’ll play along, though I doubt that’s what is happening right now at least.

Would save money. Could axe the renovations and save $1-2 million per year in salary if he’s gone.

Most would sacrifice baseball for football anyways. But Tony is so popular here that i think it’d be a risky move to play it that way.

Interesting take. TV is hugely popular with the baseball crowd. But what is the capacity of the baseball stadium? How many UT fans have no idea who the head baseball coach even is at UT?

I’d wager that the % of Vol fans of different sports who know that Tony Vitello is our baseball coach is extremely high

Capacity roughly 5000, maybe a bit more due to renovations on the porch and the semi renovation bleachers down left. Given the success as of late and how difficult it is to get a ticket, I’d think at least most Vols fans know his name.

So for arguments sake let’s say 5,000. And let’s say there are 100,000 in Neyland on a particular Saturday in the fall. Do 50% of those know who TV is? I seriously doubt it. I think you are vastly overestimating the importance of baseball to most UT fans. Don’t get me wrong…I LOVE baseball. My favorite sport. But I also realize I’m in the minority.

Definitely because instead of remaining focused on the games and performance needed to make and advance in CWS, they were more concerned with showboating! I’m all for having fun, but they were over the top with stupidity and it bit them in the ass!
😷 😷 Hey Uncle Jed Green, just roll the ball out there and tell everyone to go to Kmart! 😂
Stupidity is not knowing that fun and swagger is why they were so successful.

So, for arguments sake…I would think they would, because the average fan, at least to me, keeps up with teams that are consistently ranked, consistently have a post season future.

The football stadium is getting smaller not bigger. It’s a known commodity. No one will argue that point. Baseball is growing exponentially, comparatively. That is to say. Vitello has made us a winner, and even the average fan has to do something in the football off season.

The real question is can baseball become self sustaining and it can. Couldn’t say that 8 years ago.

The most obvious answer is…do a poll in the the other forums and ask if they know who Tennessee’s baseball coach is.

Thankfully, it will require more than "a bad feeling" to bring this scenario to fruition. Some of you guys are blowing this way out of proportion.

Here are some reasons why I think TV is very well known by the fan base:

1. At the regionals the last few years, not only has LNS been easily sold out, but there’s been 5-10K additional fans who couldn’t get into the stadium but nevertheless came out to just watch at block parties on campus.

2. the cheapest ticket I could find to a super regional game last year was ~ $350/seat, most were much higher. Also, people waited in line for ~ 8 hours or so for standing room only tickets.

3. Every time I’ve seen TV and the team introduced at a football or basketball game, the crowd freaked out as much as they did when Heupel/football team came out.

4. TV’s appearance on college gameday before the Florida football game (which he was selected for because he’s a celebrity) was heavily lauded by vol fans.

5. After the Omaha trip the team had an autograph session and TV signed non-stop with a consistent long line for at least 3 hours straight.

6. I have my own daddy coat and wore it to the Kentucky football game. My son thought nobody would know what it was because it was football, but many people came up to me and specifically said that they liked my daddy coat.

That’s my evidence.

I have no inside info, but I do have a read on what I believe is happening. I think this 3-game suspension closes the book on the whole Ahuna situation. Meaning, the announcement that UTAD has stated will come Monday, will be that CTV has been reinstated and Ahuna will be immediately eligible to play.

The whole Evan Russel saga is very odd…that’s for sure. I don’t believe we’ll ever know what truely happened.
What truly happened is an idiot troll account was repeated by a bigger idiot on ESPN that completely slandered an outstanding person and VFL. Evan Russell is a Vol legend and a person of tremendous character.
