Vitello Will Not Leave Tennessee. . .

If something plays out where vitello leaves, we really have a mad-hatter AD, he'll bring in someone better.

Trying to catch up while at work so I haven’t read every post. Are you saying we offered him that much and are confirming that LSU made him offer during the CWS also?
Idk anything about lsu. I do know we are willing to pay this guy and I know we have an AD who won't play a negotiation game. $2.6-$2.8 and a NEW stadium.

Serious question. What makes somebody think we would pay that much for a baseball coach when Stanford a team that values baseball amd has the largest endowment of any school in the country doesn’t pay that?

Word has it on Tigerdroppings that he was offered $2.7 mill with extra $2-$3 mill for staff!
That's a crazy number but if LSU had a few turn them down they might have to pay that...I think anything around 2-2.2 you match anything else you let him walk

I'm still not convinced LSU of all places, with those fan expectations, are going to pay Vitello $2.1 million to be their next head coach after 1 CWS appearance. If LSU is the mecca of CBB, they'll approach other coaches first.

I'm not claiming to know anything from where I sit - however, I could actually see a scenario where AD DW takes this as his first true test in regards to having everyone pulling in the same direction and take the opportunity to 'flex' a little bit. Truthfully, I'd love to see it.
I understand the BVS we've all suffered under the past decade plus, however the fact remains that UT could afford whatever it wants. We never thought we'd pay a basketball coach what we currently pay either.

They have. Most of them have began to say no.
O’Sullivan ❌
O’Connor ❌
Bianco ❌
Godwin ❓
Vitello ❓

They turned down O'Sullivan. Bianco didn't say no, I doubt he was ever offered. The only info we have about O'Connor is a random Paul Mainieri quote. There isn't any proof that LSU was actually turned down by anyone. Again, just speculation.

Well there isn’t ever any proof that a team is turned down. Just reports. Like Tennessee was definitely not turned down by James Franklin and Huepel was always DW’s first choice…. Except I’m not that dumb.

Not getting that anywhere else.

I would think that the fan base showing out, not only at home this season, but also in Omaha would be a big aspect to CTV in regards to his decision making about whether he thinks he can build a program here or not. If he's the ultimate competitor the lure shouldn't be to follow in the footsteps at LSU no matter how large the mystique is, but rather to look across the state and realize UT could be built into a National Baseball powerhouse.

If I'm TV, I don't want to be the coach that follows the legends, I want to become legendary building my program by ending their careers in similar fashion to what we did to PM and LSU this season.

Totally looks like a dude who has been deep in secret contract negotiations with LSU during the CWS instead of coaching his team.

He sure appears to be enjoying himself more than any coach, in any sport, I've ever seen.
