Vol uniform/helmet design discussion (merged)

Again....it does not matter who manufactures our uni's. The administration has final call on what the uni's are made of and what they look like. Nike and UA have no creative advantage on Adidas and the administration would restrict their products as well. The uni conversation is a mute point unless the administration lets the manufacture have complete creative control on the final product.

Actually, that's part of the reason (along with money) that we aren't with Nike. At the contract level they offered UT, Nike would get "full creative control" of uniform design and "the right to initiate a department-wide rebranding" of UT.

not necessarily true. We would not have as much control with Nike like we have with Adidas

The administration has final say on what products represent the university. I agree that Nike will want creative control on their products, which is one of the reasons Nike will never provide athletic apparel at UT. Thus until the administration wants to change the apparel of their student athletes, nothing will change. And if they were to change, Adidas would have no problem giving them what they want.

Under Armor is the worst. Not only would the unis suck but a t-shirt would probaly be $40. They sure are proud of the garb they put out.

The UA uniforms are better than Nike (the horrific Maryland abominations not withstanding) But yes, apparel would be entirely too expensive with UA.

Nike would be better all the way around with unis, cleats, gloves, & fan apparel. I agree some of the pro combat unis are hideous but some are nice & pretty conservative in line with the regular uni for instance bama.

If Tennessee were to get Nike, I would hope that they would go the route Bama has gone and allow them to tweak very minor things but leave the overall design alone. Some of the pro-combats are just mind bogglingly stupid looking.

The one problem I have with Adidas (and this is totally selfish) is that their fan apparel sucks. No question that Nike makes better apparel.

If you love Under Armour, you should not be allowed to post in this thread. We should change the parenthesis in the thread title to (Nike vs. Adidas).

I agree on the black uni not being us. I'm a traditional Orange/White uni guy. Just threw it up so some could throw up. To me, combat uniforms are for the military and black uniforms are for anyone other than the Vols.
