???? We have changed unis several times in the last 30 years. The Unis we wear now are not traditional. People on here are crazy about the unis. They do help with recruits and image. We need some alternates.

Yes. But we are still Otange & White with small modifications. We do not look like that Oregon State uniform.

I remember when Dickey was the coach and since then it has always been a variation of orange and white. We have added some black trim, patches, material, but orange and white has been the core of our uniforms and to me that says tradition.

One day the young will become old and at that point and time they will have a better understanding and appreciation about the value of tradition. There are numerous teams that have stayed with traditional uniforms and it has had zero impact on the effectiveness of their recruiting.

Gentry is that you?

I'm still hate the black outline on the away jerseys. I remember the week that was announced in 1994 before the South Carolina game. The radio shows lit up! There was one particular caller that I'll never forget. He said, "There's 2 traditions that have now left UT...winning and the Big Orange."

The winning part because UT had lost to UCLA, UF, Miss St., and Bama already that year.

That was 18 years ago and there's a large portion of our younger fan base that only know UT's away jerseys with the black outline. So does the black outline represent "tradition" after 18 years? To some maybe, others not.

I hate hate hate the black outline

The very first thing is not always the best. We could say it is tradition to have slaves because that is what this country first did. Using the argument that wearing black is "tradition" just because it is the first thing is not true, either.

You're comparing subtle uniform changes to the atrocities of slavery? You might need to take a step back there hombre

I think it was VS UNLV when Brent Schaffer and Anige "shared" the starting QB roll. Only wore them for 1 game to open the season.

We have a new "most out of touch with reality" poster. Congratulations. You are the only poster to ever connect human rights violations with football uniforms. Well done, sir. Well done.

I have went over this issue back and forth in my head quite a bit. I have bounced from one side the other and back and then around then somewhere else and back again. I personally am proud of UT's tradition and would be ok with them never changing. On the other hand, I am not going to go on a 3 year tirade because they switch things up from time to time. I will sit on the fence, and lean my butt over to which ever side helps the vols win.

Again...if you like that picture people keep tossing out...I suggest you all find somebody that can do a little better job than using a damn Michigan uniform.

MICHIGAN...for the love of God.

But if you want a better one, why do you (if Christian) decorate a pine tree for Christmas? Why not an oak, or a stuffed moose or something? Who decided that's what happens? You do it because it is the tradition and it is symbolic, just like the Orange and White uniforms.

Probably the slaves.

Breaking the black jerseys out for an october game close to halloween would be a fun tradition! We did win that game we wore them so it is not bad luck like the orange pants!

I'm starting to become more in favor of an alternate jersey just so we can finally stop this thread.

It won't make any difference. We (regrettably, IMO) had an alternate jersey 3 years ago, and all that did was stir the debate even more. At that point you had people who were disappointed that UT decided to go down that road, people who liked it the one time, and the people who now seem to think we need to wear something different every week like Oregon does.

So whats up with the black jerseys this year - Anyone have any info on whether we'll see black or whether the team will wear orange or white pants for away games?
