All these superficial traditions. The uniform is gospel yet the power T has changed, we have some sort of smokey icon now, can't play for the beer barrel anymore, & I'm sure I'm leaving other stuff out.

The beer barrel? I'm not familiar with this. I must be too young lol. I think the players and coaches should be able to decide on whatever they want to wear...just win!

One thing that is very important in a premier game like this with high exposure is branding. When people see the golden arches they think McDonald's. If the arches were another color it wouldn't be the same. It doesn't matter if black uniforms look cool or not. We want to spank the gators and have recruits, fans, and everyone associating us with our normal orange jerseys, not looking like Oklahoma State or someone else. Just win and every fair weather fan in the country will be wearing orange and all recruits will want to wear it as well. Stick with our brand when you have exposure like this week.

If they don't want to play for the BIG ORANGE, Tell em to go play for Oregon State if they want black uniforms....Just that simple...If they are basing their decisions on where to play college ball on the color of the uniforms then do we really want them?...Seriously?
They might not make their decision solely based on uniforms. But to say it isn't a factor to some kids' decisions is naive.

Oh okay. Thanks! I didn't know that

It wasn't that long ago. Somehow playing for the beer barrel became politically incorrect like the the Florida-UGA game in Jacksonville being labeled the largest outdoor cocktail party did. Ironic 99% of the people at all games are tailgating & drinking.

While I like the way black uni's look, If that is something that sways a recruit.. I feel sorry for that guy. There are just so many other things that actually matter when picking a school. SMH

Haha exactly. I think that's redundant. Politically correct crap needs to be thrown out altogether. Who cares what they play for or what the title of the game is . Are they gonna stop playin for the Paul Bunyan ax because it's a weapon??? Lol.

I like this. Only thing I will add is that I love orange on orange! And it is something we do once in a while. Always gets me pretty pumped..

If funky uniforms is what gets recruits explain Bama's or LSU's recruiting prowess. Neither do anything out of the ordinary with their uniforms.

From West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen:

"It's a recruiting thing," Holgorsen said. "If you look across the country, we're behind on this. Everyone is going (Nike) Pro Combat. Everyone has three or four new uniforms. We're far from that. It's recruiting. Why is everyone doing it? Because the kids want it. It's television and marketing and the kids get excited about what they can see."

Can you believe this guy? Doesn't he know that recruits don't care about uniforms? Somebody tell Holgorsen to get a VolNation account so these traditionalists and old farts on here can set him straight.

How about an Orange helmet with a white power T on it for away games. LIke someone said earlier, the black one looks good on a table or by itself, but it would be a nightmare matching jersys and pants to it.
