All these superficial traditions. The uniform is gospel yet the power T has changed, we have some sort of smokey icon now, can't play for the beer barrel anymore, & I'm sure I'm leaving other stuff out.
They might not make their decision solely based on uniforms. But to say it isn't a factor to some kids' decisions is naive. If they don't want to play for the BIG ORANGE, Tell em to go play for Oregon State if they want black uniforms....Just that simple...If they are basing their decisions on where to play college ball on the color of the uniforms then do we really want them?...Seriously?
It wasn't that long ago. Somehow playing for the beer barrel became politically incorrect like the the Florida-UGA game in Jacksonville being labeled the largest outdoor cocktail party did. Ironic 99% of the people at all games are tailgating & drinking.
One thing that is very important in a premier game like this with high exposure is branding. When people see the golden arches they think McDonald's. If the arches were another color it wouldn't be the same. It doesn't matter if black uniforms look cool or not. We want to spank the gators and have recruits, fans, and everyone associating us with our normal orange jerseys, not looking like Oklahoma State or someone else. Just win and every fair weather fan in the country will be wearing orange and all recruits will want to wear it as well. Stick with our brand when you have exposure like this week.
