I think a blackout would be awesome. No one would expect Dooley to do it. It would cause Neyland Stadium to blow up. I know I would run through every wall in my house, and probably the neighbors too. But for real imagine the energy that would bring to not only the fans but the players as well. JMO

I am not a usual contributor in the Football threads, as I'm more a Recruiting guy. I have, however, seen a picture of a black matte black helmet with a shiny, reflective, silver "T". I wasn't a fan of Kiffens black jerseys but this helmet was sweet. FWIW. I will try and post a picture of it but I'm not near a computer and won't be for some time so if I could get some assistance, it would be great.

Indeed Tennessee did wear black uniforms.. From 1911 to 1920 black was the primary color for Tennessee

Why the hate towards black?

I ask this to the "traditionalists" on VN opposed to any change in our gameday uniforms: Do you eat the same friggin thing for dinner every day? Do you wear the same clothes? When one car dies, do you go out and buy the exact same model and color you had before? Do you watch the same thing on TV everyday? Do you do the same thing at work or during your leisure time everyday?

If you answered 'yes' to any of the above, then you are a full-blown "traditionalist" who is wholly opposed to change of any nature, and probably have the personality and warmth of a stump.

A team should be able to mix up its uniform anytime it wants for any reason. If you don't like such change, stick your head in the sand, put your fingers in your ear, and repeat "NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH" after me. The world will keep on turning. Get over it.

Equally salient to this discussion: BLACK is the absence of color, and is therefore NOT A COLOR. Thus, when VN has the discussion of what color we'll be wearing at xyz next game, black shouldn't be mentioned.

Black can be included in any part of our uniform and technically we have not added to our color scheme one iota.

Why a good stripper doesn't pierce below the belt. You don't mess with perfection.

Oh and nice try here. Really bravo. You must've aced that art exam. But for the other 99% of the population, black is a color which of course is not included among UT's colors.

All we hear is how black is not a school color that our colors are white & orange. Surely every school doesn't have white as a school color yet all have white uniforms.

so is white---should UT get all the white out of their uniforms?

Are u saying white is the absence of color? If so you would be wrong. White is the all primary colors combined.

Also, where was anyone showing hate towards orange. People request black uniforms for one big game and all the sudden it is an attack on orange? If differentiating something from the norm is considered hate than we all do it daily.

Tradition, tradition, tradition I'm so sick of hearing "Air colors are arnge 'n whyte by god not black".Shut your hole and get it through your heads things change.Notre Dame and Michigan both have more tradition than UT but they still manage to change things up even if for only for one game, it's not the end of the world. You exact same people were the ones crying when Fulmer was fired for doing nothing but sitting on his ass and watching UT fall behind everyone else. You are the same ones who sit on your hands at games then ***** when someone is standing and cheering. You are the same ones who only make love to your wife missionary style and is the reason she calls on people like me when you're off on one of your weeklong fishing trips with your "buddies", she's tired of the same old crap and wants a little change. An orange helmet with a white T, or throwbacks with the black numbers, a helmet with Vols script on it what would be wrong with that?It doesn't even have to be a color change just a different look I don't see what the big deal is.

There are better ways to try and support change. Calling out all the traditionalist in that manner is only making them hate them more. Good job at providing a mature response.

You do know the vols wore black from 1911-1920 soooooo black is traditional as orange.

I will agree to it when the players start wearing leather helmets too.

I think the problem with this thread is it is frequented by some gay gothic fashion designers that do not understand the Tennessee tradition. I would like to see what kind of reaction they would get on the Bama board with some of these suggestions.

Yeah, I'm worried about if it was a mature response or if it will make them hate more.Ask me if I give a ****.

so wearing a color for 9 years makes it traditional? Another question, if other teams had never done this how many of you all would want us to wear black or change our uniforms?

So you're the one who has to agree to it for it to happen huh? The lame-ass Bama argument is about as bad as liberals still blaming Bush.
