I really dont understand all the hate for the black on the Unis. For almost 25 years our Primary color WAS BLACK. To the people yelling not to change the color, its a tradition, or anything else, think about this, You are actually against the VERY situation that made Orange our primary color in the first place. Personally I think if a change in unis would do the team good, then so be it. I like Our current ones, but I wouldnt be opposed to a blackout game or something like that once a year, but I dont think I would want it permanently.
Just my opinion.

Can you tell me where you heard this? I'd love to have a citation for an argument I'm having.

I don't know about black....but modern looking uni's can only help...not hurt....recruiting. All of those, you mentioned, except Molestation State U & Bamer have either worn heavily modified uni's for special occasions or small modifications since the Ice Age.

Funny...same people who get all butt-hurt about any possible changes are the same ones who buy certain guns cause they....look "purty" (assault rifles instead of just a standard one)

....or certain pickup trucks cause they look bad-a$$ (in their mind, anyway). Even though the extra $10-20k in cost + gas mileage keeps their wallet skinny.

I think I understand your point, if you are saying that the traditionalists on here have no problem going out and making total vanity purchases. I can't speak on whether or not that is true, because I don't know anyone on here personally.

The bottom line is that I think that minor uniform changes are okay. I don't feel a need to experiment with changing the overall brand of the team.

Let me say that when we came out in 09 wearing black, I loved it. Looking back and reflecting for a few years, it just doesn't hold up for me.

Interesting read below... particularly the red color theory. As I'm inherently evil, guess this explains why I want some black in the mix. Go figure. Oh, BTW, football is a violent game.

Does Uniform Color Impact Sports Outcomes?

By Sarah B. Weir

Color advantage? At a youth soccer game recently, I noticed that the kids in black uniforms looked more intimidating than those wearing light blue. It turns out this gut reaction may have a basis in science, but surprisingly, not in favor of the team you might think.

A new study published in the latest Journal of Social Psychology and Personality Science shows that National Hockey League (NHL) teams who wear darker colors, especially black, are viewed as more being more aggressive. Consequently, they end up being penalized at a higher rate than their opponents.

Lead author of the study, Gregory Webster of the University of Florida, Gainesville, analyzed about 50,000 NHL games that were played over the last 25 years. "Teams that wore black jerseys were penalized more, significantly more, than teams wearing other colored jerseys," he told National Public Radio.

While there may be other reasons that players wearing darker colors are sent to the penalty box more frequently, such as black showing up more clearly against the ice, Webster thinks the discrepancy has more to do with our culture's designation of white as the color of good and black as the color of evil. "There is this very strong cultural association that comes through in how we think about colors in terms of white being associated with good and black with bad," Webster explained. "Many of us are raised from childhood with some of these associations. And over time, we develop a kind of cognitive bias. That's been shown time and time again in social psychology."

An older study by the National Football League came up with similar results. Teams that switched from a white jersey to a dark jersey immediately experienced an increase in penalties. Researchers attributed the uptick to both the attitudes of the referees as well as the players' self-perception and theorized that individual players actually acted more violently when wearing different color jerseys.

While dark colors may influence the referee negatively, white isn't necessarily the color that wins the most overall. National Geographic reports that if you are going for the gold, the color to choose is actually red. When two athletes or teams are equally matched, red has a quantifiable edge. In nature, red signifies dominance and male testosterone. Researchers speculate that, given the popularity of red uniforms (not to mention red power ties), humans unconsciously intuit its advantage.

Wait, are you mixing lights or dyes? If you mix all the colors on the light spectrum it turns out white...

As we were talking about the colors of uniforms, I'd guess I was talking about dyes.

:hi:

You're mixing up pigments and colors..

We were talking about unis.

So no, I wasn't mixing pigments with anything.

Maybe you were.

Attend an introductory physics lecture.

Kid, you'll need a bit more edumacatin' before you talk to me, wikipedia goober.

:eek:lol:

The point is they feel free to throw common sense and practicality out the window on matters closer to home...ie, their pocket book, simply because they place a LOT of value in appearance.

Then they proceed to lecture us here, about the vanity of placing a value on appearances, regarding football uni's (that represent our state in front of millions of viewers). Go figure.

so wearing a color for 9 years makes it traditional? Another question, if other teams had never done this how many of you all would want us to wear black or change our uniforms?
It was our first colors so kinda yeah it does. I like all orange myself was just posting info to the peps that was wondering where black came into the discussion from

How about we get rid of the checkerboard endzones? The field didn't always have them, so let's go back to that just because it was like that first.

The fact that mixing colored dyes produces black doesn't mean anything. The "color" black is the absence of photons reflected to your eyes. Therefore it is not a color.

Are we really having this argument? You're dumber than a sack of potatoes, kid.
