Of all of the fan attempts at this, I find this to be acceptable.

I really like the black one and if they make sure the Orange is the right shade I think the white would look descent. :good!:

Deserve it? how is the hell do the fans deserve it? have they bled for the orange and white? the fans don't "deserve" anything. They aren't entitled to anything. The program is bigger than any person. And that is what is most important.

If not for the fans that buy Tickets, Shirts, Hats or anything affiliated with TN, there would be no TN athletics...so we may not be ENTITLED but we do DESERVE a little say in this....

If you were the CEO of a Corporation, say COKE, and it gets back to you that a consumer poll was done and 75% of your consumers would like the COKE emblem to be camoflauged every winter for hunting season, wouldn't you see that as a marketing tool to generate more sales on your merchandise.....same applies here...

The uniform change does not have to be permanent but it could help to throw in some different uni's every once in a while, esp road uni's or Homecoming, to generate sales and help the economic side of the AD...

I don't think u have to go all Oregon or anything but keeping things fresh isn't bad. Look around at all the different little things "traditional" teams are doing lately, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, SC, LSU, hell even Notre Dame did something different for a fun change. In the past however long we have had a couple things we did differently ie orange should pads on the jerseys and the black ones. Then that year w the large stripe on the pants that a lot of Adidas teams did. And look everyone lived through it. I've been around this program for over 30 years including on the training staff and I can say that the players love the T but every now and then like to switch things up. They are the one that play the game people not us. If they want something a little different what the hell are we gonna say or do about it. We are going to still love our VOLS!

I can deal with the grey. I actually wish we would use grey as the number accents instead of black.

The whole black thing looks way too Halloween and OSU for my taste.

When does our contract with ADIDAS run out? I would love to see us move to NIKE.

Wow, alot got posted over the weekend about this...didn't mean to upset so many with my goofing around and tinkering with unis. I'm all for being orange and white, with not alot of black involved, but wanted to show people those black designs as that's what alot of people on here kept talking about. Black as trim is fine by me and even a black look for one game every now and again is fine. I was putting out the "one game" look, not the season.

Interesting comparison. However, I'd go the other way and think of it as a workplace (ie Target or Best Buy) and the employees are begging to change their work uniform. The uniform is an image that is synonymous with those companies. So, just because the hourly employees of one store want to change uniforms, the company is bigger than them and that's what they need to understand.

You Nike people seriously need to read this thread a little harder. We WILL NOT be going to Nike as long as they keep low balling us and Adidas keeps treating us like kings. Period. End of discussion.

Agreed, hell why go to Nike to help feed the Oregon uniform machine anyhow. ; )>

Adidas is ten times better anyway. Our team sucked this year, but our jersey looked as good as I've ever seen them. The orange was perfect and matched. Our away jerseys for the vandy game were sweet. I would still like to see them lose the black outline and go back to the orange on orange outline.

I posted this PS almost at the exact time of the mega thread merge. So I am wondering if I got buried or if there is no love at all for my slightly modernized take in the classic?

How about with a black mask?

From my perspective, the prettiest road jerseys in Tennessee football history were worn during the Heath Shuler era: orange numerals with a pencil-thin inner border (white) and equally thin orange outer border, with narrow orange-white-orange stripes attached to the extreme ends of sleeves. See this first-half footage from the '92 shootout in Athens, which we won 34-31 (1992 Tennessee 34 Georgia 31 (1st Half) - YouTube ).

I don't like it personally, but I dont even like the black outline on the away jerseys.

I would rather try an orange helmet with a white T.

I agree. I would love to see a modern version of these. I also loved the away jerseys from a couple years earlier with no outline at all.

I do like the idea of an orange helmet with white T as part of our road uniforms. It would serve as an excellent visual counterbalance to white jerseys and orange uniform pants. There would be nothing louder, prouder and bolder than that combination. We have the prettiest and most distinctive color scheme in all of college football and I support maximizing its effectivness as a statement of who we are.

If recruits truly have their hearts set on black as a dominant component of their college football uniforms, then, by all means, go to Colorado or, yuck, Vanderbilt.

One question...Why is it tradition always comes up when uniform talks start but when we talk about how the game has changed we have to roll with the punches so to speak? I love our colors and tradition so do not get me wrong, but if it is one game a year or so then who really gives a rat's a**. Kids these days like that type of thing and it actually excites the fan base in a way (see USCe game a few years ago) and I am thinking this one needs it.

Edit: Yeah I know, need to fix my orange color some, coming out sorta yellowish....but y'all get the point. : )>

I know I'm in the minority but I like it when the side stripe in the shirt runs into or matches up with the side stripe on the pants. Anything like that? And do you have a side or 3/4 view of the helmet??

I'm biased, but I think Md has the best looking flag is the US, and it translated into a pretty cool uni. (although i can understand it's not for everyone)
My daughter, a sophmore at UMd just bought a bikini top like the Terp uni

I like their uni's too. I know it's not the popular choice but think they were differently cool.
