We have a lot of paths IMO. Not a a great spot to be in, but not a bad one either. Odds are we are in if we take care of business the next two weeks.

Also, no team is going to be penalized for losing their conference title game- nor should they. You can forget that.

Then the rankings don't matter! That says if BYU and Colorado met - both are in even if they are ranked in the bottom part of the 25.

And how do you account for the losers in the conferences that Boise State and Army are in? And how do you account for the conference champs in the other P5 conferences?

I think the guarantee should only be for conference champions. Then you choose the best at large.

What about Colorado beating #14 BYU in the Big 12 Championship game? Wouldn't that be the easiest and most sure path in?

Colorado would be in if they beat BYU in the Big 12 Championship wouldnt they?

What about #14 CFP ranked BYU (who is 3 spots behind us and currently losing their bye to Boise) if they lose in the Big12 championship? We would have to take their place if we win out. I can't imagine how we wouldn't.
Hello Colorado.... They would be in as the Big 12 winner

Needs
1. Ohio st to blow out Indiana
2. Alabama to lose in next 2 weeks
3. Florida to beat ole miss

Any one of these will certainly make our chances go up dramatically
Bama isn’t losing to lowly OU or AU. So forget that. The UF game is intriguing. UF is much improved since we played them. OM is coming to the swamp. UF might beat them. Unknown people crap on IU but they are better than people think. OSU is no juggernaut. Unfortunately I don’t see OSU destroying them. As a matter of fact, I could see IU winning.

I can think of 3 other outcomes that can happen without none of your 3 happening and we are in the playoffs.... There is so much that can go our way outside of the SEC teams alone

They shouldnt be dropped for conference title game losses. thats all that means. Doesnt mean the conference championship teams get in.

One more here. A&M loses at Auburn can easily happen which eliminates them because the week later they beat Texas at home rendering Texas as 2 loss team that didn't play Bama Ole Miss Tennessee South Carolina did play GA at home and lost so with only playing 1 in top team in league with home loss and all your victories are over rest not a good resume and I believe they would be left out. No impressive Wins. Just another scenario that can happen. Vols in good position just go out this week and beat UTEP by 50 and Vandy by 14+ which then would have head to head over even Bama twice since Vandy beat Bama. In CHRIST Alone

Yes, what they are trying to say is.. if #3 Texas and #7 Bama play, it wont matter who loses. They will still be the same rank in the final rankings

If the rankings don't change then if Texas loses, they still get the bye not Bama?

And if say 17th ranked Clemson beats 8th ranked Miami and Clemson wins - they both get in because you can't drop Miami?

Or unranked Colorado State beats 12th ranked Boise State both get in or you penalize Boise State because they lost when in fact they were in based on the rankings?

You also don't allow the winner to be repositioned so that they possibly draw a different team or secure a home field advantage or even a bye they would not get otherwise.

If the conference championship games are problematic, then just don't play them and let each conference decide "who is conference champ" without a game.

I agree. The dominant W over GA outweighs the losses to commitee. In CHRIST Alone

It is more around timing of the win than anything. Had Ole Miss played and beat GA and followed that up with the loss to KY, Ole Miss would be below GA. That is the same reason why GA is below Texas, a team they convincingly beat. The Ole Miss loss was last.

And why TN is below Bama.

Just my opinion, but Texas losing to aTm might well completely eliminate them.
You can say “they won’t fall that far,” but they’d fall behind every other two loss SEC team. Their best win would be Vandy. Problem there of course, is it wouldn’t help us because aTm would move ahead of us. UNLESS Auburn takes care of them- which in JH they very well might.

I was against this whole playoff thing for my entire life, but I gotta admit - this sure is fun- and instead of my usual argument that “the regular season won’t mean as much,” it’s actually even better!
