Vols in Summer Leagues Across Continent

Time for the 4000 Mile 7th Inning Strrrrrrrrrrretchtothefridgewherethebeeris!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, well, some things don't change...moberg caught in a run down, picked off.

Moberg will get to see Simcox, BCourt, and Stewie tomorrow at the Miners, 11PM.

6/14 wrap up...Moberg did what he needed to do at the plate. Taylor Smart also had some hits today, as a temp. he really needed it.

I have a feeling tomorrow will be a big day for quite a few Vols . Vjax is with the team, whether he'll play or not is up in the air. GBO!

vol66, I appreciate the updates and all but, I'm thinking you need to get a girl friend or something!

Already have a wife, a youngin' too. This is "The Boring Season" for me. Typically, this would be home renovation time, but because I've got the house on the market, I've done that work already. Truth is, I've learned a lot in just a few short days and I expect there's more to come...

One question I have, maybe someone here knows...Do the players get their travel paid for? A stipend of any kind, like a per diem...The reason I'm asking and file under "did not know", but in listening to a Cape Cod League game, the announcer made the point that the teams do provide "some" bats, but that the players have to buy there own and when they break them, it's $70 bucks or so he said to replace the bat. Got me to thinking, how do these broke college kids pay for all of this? I realize they stay with host families, still...

Couple of notes...

Finally found Pierce Bily. he's a member of the Los Angeles Brewers who play Saberhagen's Conejo Oaks at 9 PM.

Vincent Jackson, according to his twitter, got settled in to St. Cloud on June 12th, his team the Rox were on a 6 game road trip, tonight is the first home game, will be interesting to see if he breaks into the line up. Start time 7:35 PM.

The SLO Blues will play the MLB Academy Barons(?) tonight at 10 PM, though the Blues site has time TBD. That's pretty cool. I wonder if Kyle Serrano might make an appearance?

I plan on watching Maddox and the Harbor Hawks play their first game, 6 PM...I also plan on watching the Miners vs. Glacier Pilots at 11 PM. Other than that, I'll probably just try to find a game of interest in between. Those 7, 8 O'clock games, it gets pretty hard just figuring out which Vols are playing, but I'll do my best. If anyone wants to watch a certain player or team, I can probably provide a quick link, many of the links I gave yesterday will work today. GBO!

The players are on their own financially to cover transportation, league fees (which range from nothing to fairly expensive), and living expenses beyond what the host family gives them. Most of their parents got used to dropping a few grand every summer on travel ball in high school--and they get to keep doing it in college.

Wow, yeah, it's a 4000+ mile trip out to Alaska, that's a lot of scratch. Thanks for the info!

Maddox is 0 for 5, 4 ground outs and a K...top 10, score tied up, good game in the CCL.

Maddox gets hit by pitch in the Bot. 12, no outs...hmmm, wonder if he's gonna steal?

Welcome to Will Maddox CCL, Maddox steals 2nd...runners on the corners for the Hawks, no outs

Now there's two outs and Maddox is standing on 3rd, in a game that ends in the 12th no matter what...If he was in Knoxville he'd have already tried to steal...down to the last strike...maybe he's just being polite

Hawks win!!!! the announcer's are speechless, they win on a fielder's choice. great game!

VJax's Rox lose 6-5, made a strong comeback. I know I missed at least one at bat, because of the CCL game, I'll dig his stats up later.

Houser gets a start in game #2 for the Blowfish, he's scored a run.
