Please make it stop. :stop: People, for Pete's sake, you cannot use the word "seen" without "have" or "has" in front of it, unless you're writing in the passive voice (for example, I have seen or he has seen). Here, you say, "I saw . . . ." This is not Alabama. Thank you.

Don't forget the contractions.
Example: "I've seen Tennessee beat Bama in the past, so I know it can be done."

or "She's seen..."

Dude its East Tennessee! I "seen" this kind of talk my entire life. I have also seen (note my use of the passive voice) "whip dey azz" used on this site rather frequently. Which when used in the proper context is perfectly acceptable. For example "come Saturday we when we's play Mizzou we gon whip dey azz!!

We don't always drink moonshine but when we do we prefer orange lightnin'! GBO

The difference is that everybody knows you're intentionally not being serious when you say WDA. You're purposefully misusing English for effect. Not so with "seen."

Really? How bout removing this one too. Merica.

Please tell me you didn't attend the fine university in Knoxville that I did. If so, please never mention it in public (including here). I might have to burn that piece of paper, so that I may never be linked to you. The OP mentioned the stats. It was all there. Don't be mad for me setting the record straight. Pay attention to the details, like I'm sure you piss and moan about the staff not doing on Saturdays while you armchair quarterback with 2% of the football knowledge they have. 'night. (... and it's America)

Apologies. Freak conveyed it in the third post. Guess my comprehension is a little off, but it was still there to be seen.

Best APR scores (football):
Northwestern: 996
Boise State: 993
Duke: 989
Clemson: 985
Wisconsin: 985
Georgia Tech: 983
Boston College: 982
Missouri: 982
Ohio State: 982
Rice: 979

Where is this 1000 of which you speak?

Spring APR was 1.000 (1000) but overall is 960 I believe. It was in the 800s I believe when Butch took over the program and was about to lose scholarships and face bowl bans. It's in the clear now thanks to the work of these students and staff.

Best news I have heard about this team since CBJ was hired.

I would still rank the South Carolina game as greater.

Don't get me wrong, the APR is impressive, but at the end of the day it's about W/L's.

I understand, the first win over a ranked opponent in four years is great. But avoiding a bowl ban by posting a perfect APR(even though it is a bs measuring stick for the 'AA) is something I would have never thought possible in this age of college football for UT to accomplish.

It's funny that there were a lot of posters on here that simply dismissed the APR issues from last Spring. Basically saying, "it's no big deal" and there's no way UT will lose out on a bowl bid because of this.

Now, all of a sudden, the UT football program was on the brink of academic ruin.

Again, I think this is fantastic news. However, I don't this holding up should UT do the unthinkable and go 0-4 in Nov.

Fans are fickle as you know. Hell, this place flip-flops every week. UT struggled to beat USA and people were calling for a 4-8 finish. UT loses to UGA and this place is giddy! :ermm: UT beat S. Carolina and it's look out Bama.

All the issues you mention above are just indicators as to where this program is headed. One of these successes alone holds no water. When viewed as a package it indicates that Coach Jones and Staff are dealing with the entire program's issues ahead of schedule.

He has simply stated that he is building a program brick by brick. This is just another brick in the foundation which was added ahead of schedule. In other words, bricks are not just recruits.

CBJ got it long before the fan base did. As fickle as the fan base has become over the past 6 years with some legitimacy, this is just another stepping stone in the process. He is successfully multitasking.

CBJ & Staff gets it, now is time for the fan base to do the same or move on to another team. CBJ is moving this program forward and he doesn't need to drag any fickle fans along for the ride.

True. If they are 0-4 in November this news is not as special. But that won't happen.

I completely agree with you. He meant what he said with the "brick by brick" reference. Unfortunately, that meaning got lost to a lot of fans. They only saw bricks as "wins" or "recruits."

As you mentioned, there's a lot more involved. Creating a winning culture takes time. The academic portion for the Spring semester is huge step in that direction.

My point is it will have to transfer to the field or the fanbase will, once again, become frustrated...APR be damned.
