Vols ranked 10 in AP poll

I don’t get the love fest for ND at all. Sorry but a loss to NIU at home should keep you out of the top 10 imo. Ole Miss shouldn’t be ranked above us either. They have that dominating win over UGA but they have the worst losses of the top SEC teams. That home loss to KY is bad bad bad.

Sure. We beat Bama but Bama beat Georgia and Georgia beat Tennessee and Texas. So who is better than who?

The only thing we can hope is that TAMU beats Texas and maybe Georgia chokes against Tech. And of course Tennessee can't choke against Vandy.
We don’t want A&M to beat TX. This is the same as people who wanted Ole Miss to beat UGA. We don’t want another SEC team to go above us which will happen if A&M gets in SEC champ game. And they won’t drop TX below is.

Each team’s resume is much bigger than a single game. Our fans have to get over this Bama complex that says we should be ahead of them no matter what else happens.
If you blindly put our resume up next to Bama's with no logos next to them (assuming both finish 10-2), the committee would pick ours every time. We beat them Head to head and would have beat the only other team they lost to. Its not rocket science. They beat Georgia, South Carolina, and LSU. None of that trumps Head to head imo. Maybe if that was Georgia's only loss, it happened after UT beating Bama, and Georgia were top 5 still. They could argue they rebounded and got better. As it stands now, Alabama should not get in over UT. Now will they? Yea, probably.

If we win out, in what scenario would we be ranked 10 or higher and be left out of a 12 team playoff?
It’s hard to say but assume Indiana is in for reasons I already mentioned and Big 10 gets four. Texas A&M beating Texas might be enough for them to jump us but assume they are still behind us but win the SEC auto. That would eliminate all chances. That’s just one example.

They aren't going to take the top 12 teams in the AP. They have to factor in conference champions. And Boise St is amost guaranteed to be in as a representative of the non power conferences.

We need Texas to lose to TAMU and Georgia to choke against Tech.

Don't count on Indiana losing to OSU. OSU has been a shaky beatable team all year. It's true Indiana hasn't played anyone tough but you know what happened when OSU played someone tough? They got beat. Indiana is a wild card and could be good they just haven't been able to prove it yet.
They proved they are pedestrian against an unranked Michigan. I’m sick of the Cinderella teams getting in and watching them get skullfricked in the playoffs. People want to watch good football damnit.

Both Boise and Colorado (or whoever wins Big 12) will probably be outside the top 12

Our resume stacked against a 2 loss Texas will look better if we win out. If they lose to TAMU, who is their best win? Michigan? Oklahoma?

We will leapfrog Texas if they lose.

Well, you’re wrong. After OSU beats the brakes of Indiana, they are out. If Ole Miss loses to Florida, they are out. If ND loses one of their last two, they are out. Only one of those has to happen for us to be in.

Shoot, we might leapfrog Ole Miss if they only struggle but still win against Florida or State and we beat Vandy convincingly. They have worse losses and a smaller fanbase. Not to mention they could drop the SECCG loser below us if it isn’t competitive.
The prediction a few weeks was that Ohio State would beat the brakes off Penn State and they'd be out. I don't know how good Ohio State is but they didn't pummel Penn State and Indiana beat up on MI State about the same as Ohio State.

I'd not count Indiana out so easily.

Alabama is a better team right now and has a better body of work. The playoff rankings aren’t determined by what happened in a single game four weeks ago.

Strength of Record: Bama #7, Vols #10
Strength of Schedule: Bama #16, Vols #18
Football Power Index: Bama #2, Vols #9
Top 25 wins: Bama 2, Vols 1

All of the above are factual statistics. One close head-to-head win at home doesn’t change that.

I would have to see it to believe it. Texas will not drop below us unless the lose really bad to A&M or lose both their QBs for season.

I've watched every Ohio State game this year. They have been playing below their rankings and haven't playedany good teams. The two they played, Oregon beat them, OSU beat PSU by one TD.

Indiana has been a scoring machine. They haven't had the chance to play a top team yet but it's not realistic to just say "they suck" until a good team beats them down or they beat a good team.

I respectfully disagree with needing Texas to lose to TAMU. That will add even another team with 2 losses and that knocks us out. I agree that Texas’ schedule is weak but don’t think the committee would drop them completely out.

Not great Bob. Was holding out hope they would keep us above Ole Miss. Guessing committee will do the same thing.

Lets go Gators.

Bama to me is losing some of its shine. People are high on them after the "big" Missouri and LSU ranked wins but after Saturday, LSU and Missouri don't look like anything special. Florida is, frankly, a tougher team than both. Florida is looking more like a good win for Tennessee now versus what they were at 3-4 weeks ago.
Bama is dominating teams of late. SEC teams. They also destroyed a B1G 10 team on the road. We haven’t dominated anyone since Kent State. The eye test is certainly a factor.

Somewhat good news but behind all the sec teams
I’m worried now if we’re behind those sec teams we’re going to be the first team out Tuesday night I bet you. It’s total ******** because of all the teams ahead of us have done the exact same thing we have , won a big game and lost one. Add in bama , ole miss and Tenn loosing games they shouldn’t .

We beat them head to head. Its pretty damn simple. You can cherry pick what you want. We proved it between the lines we were better.
