Pretty shocked this guy doesn't have more offers after watching his film. Makes me wonder if it's sped up or something.

Winnsboro is a small town, population 3500. If he didn't go through the camp circuits there is a good chance he could have slipped through the cracks. Good blue shirt pick-up. Welcome aboard Young man!

Wish we would of picked up Matt Colburn instead out of Dutch Fork High School. Was committed to Louisville but they screwed him over a week before NSD. Higher rated and played top competition in SC.

Higher rated doesn't mean he's better. Colburn is not fast to be so small.

What if UF had added the kid a week ago? Would there been a lot of pointing and laughing?

"There goes ole Jim, just stole one from Charlotte" .

I don't know what the competition is like in his video, but he looks better than his ranking indicates. He has some serious speed. Looks to be a pretty good pick-up this late in the game.

At 6'1", he definitely will benefit from a year in the S & C program. If he bulks up he could easily outperform his ranking as he definitely has got the speed, looks to be a burner.

I'm excited for any kid that wants to wear the orange. Go Vols!

I'm very excited for the kid. Its like he hit the lottery I'm sure. I just worry about him a year or so from now when he is on every "we got to make room" fans chopping block. "He was never gonna get playing time". I've been around long enough to know how this one plays out.

I hope that's not how this plays out, but so far it appears that we will have our fair share of scholarship casualties.

He catches the ball well, his tape had a bunch of missed tackles in it. The level of competition wasn't the best. Which hampered his ranking.

FWIW, Young was listed at 6-1 both his junior and senior years but he measured 5-11 1/4 at UNC's camp last summer.

His best official 40 time I've seen is a 4.51; haven't been able to confirm when & where he reportedly recorded a 4.44 time, and don't know if that was electronic or hand-timed.

Had a good performance at the Charlotte NFTC event last spring:
Young looked like a complete back on Saturday. He was shifty in drills with the football in his hands and caught the ball well enough later in the day. He really impressed Scout with his physicality, particularly in the blocking drills, where his balance, footwork and punch were as good as it gets in slowing down the opposition.

If they were really impressed at Scout, they could have at least bumped him to a 3*. Geesh! #Haters

I probably would have left it open to have another spot for next class but I guess staff thinks they planned to use that spot anyway with Bussey as a blueshirt so if they think he is good enough to provide some depth then I can't argue with them. This staff knows what they are doing and so does Ohio St. who tried to do same blueshirt or grayshirt thing with him. It's not like he is our only back in class so only downside is next yrs class

After watching his highlights he actually does look pretty good. Def 3 star type kid. Looks good out of the backfield as a pass catcher. Smooth runner with deceptive speed. Let's hope this is another Moseley type steal.

If we are adding a 2-3* RB, then why did we not fight to keep Bussey (4*)? On this board, posters insinuated that Bussey was told to look around due to our numbers.

Bussey wasn't interested in taking a blue shirt. With the unconditional offer from A&M among others, one can't blame him a bit.
