Thought someone posted that the ND kid was the #1 TE in the portal? I have to think that this kid fits what we do better than the Joly(sp?) kid does. Seems more like a big WR than a TE.

Gotta think Banks is doing exactly what Heupel wants so that's where the blame should be directed IMO.

On3 ranks Joly higher, 247 ranks the ND TE higher.

I blame Banks, because as DC he knows what he needs better than Heupel does. Until it comes out that Heupel is actively blocking him, I'll continue to blame Banks.

Even Swain, who knows a little bit about football, was skeptical about Joly’s frame IN THIS SYSTEM from the get go. It will be okay. Coaches know what they are looking for.

He’s 215 lbs as a TE. We already have an athletic pass catcher on the team - Ethan Davis. You can see the other TE’s they’re pursuing in the portal are bigger.

Joly having 2 to play prob hurts him here as well. Can’t keep Davis on the sideline forever

Fair point, but at the same time, there's no way Banks will make that known...if he values his job that is.

Fair, but there has to be some concern about Davis being able to stay healthy. He can't reach his potential on the field if he's not on the field.

But honestly, I'm not that concerned about Joly or the offense in general. Sure, we could use a few pieces here and there on offense, but the real concern is defense. We need to be pursuing more defensive help, especially in the secondary.

Good point about Davis. And also very curious what the strategy is on D. Interesting to see how it shakes out

Things like that have a way of becoming known without it coming directly from Banks.

There are some potential difference makers out there, and the fact we don't appear to be throwing our hat in the ring is puzzling. Especially when it shows other SEC teams showing interest. Auburn, Ole Miss, and a few other SEC schools seem to be particularly active. Our defense desperately needs playmakers.
