Was that hit down first base line fair? It looked on TV like it was foul but I couldn't say for sure.

Is this a fact or you guessing?

Fact. sort of.

Barnhill technically pitched a scoreless 5th inning so that the game would end due to the run rule.

But, the starter who went 4 innings and gave up the runs was not Ocasio, Gourley or Barnhill.

Counting tonight, that trio has given up 25 earned runs in 296 innings.

It's not just Barnhill. The other two just give the opposition hope.

Barnhill has got to the point where she can't improve her era much even with a shutout tonight it goes from 0.17 to 0.16.
Looks like Florida might can ride her to the title this year.

When the left hander pitches we will definitely be the underdog. Never been able to hit leftys. You would think we would recruit one or two down the line but we even miss out on some good right handers for some silly reason, Thanks!

I'll take bets it is called in Oklahoma City

If you don't call it all year, how can you justify calling it at the end of the season. I've looked at slow-motion video of her delivery. She replants a lot. There is a reason she is good, and replanting is a big part of it. Naturally, no reporters asked Ralph about this during the week. Weak.

It would not matter if they ask or not, Ralph unlike Walton will take the high road. Bottom line is they are better than us and we will be lucky to get one. JMHO!

Different group of officials potentially. If she gets a PAC-12 crew I can definitely see it. Every year in OKC it seems like a pitcher gets matched up with a group officials that calls it in a different manner than they've seen during the year.

Ralph should have played Holcomb. Might not have made much difference but get a smaller strike zone in the lineup--maybe she walks, maybe gets the bat on the ball, and some speed. Did not see the game. Did anyone besides Vines even look halfway composed at the plate? Did either McSwain or McLain hit the ball? You now it's a bad night when Leach is 0-3. I'll bet that hasn't happened 4 times all year.

I am a little biased but I think they should have had Vines at first. Rowland has proved over and over that she cannot hit a lick. Had to let lockman catch but she cant hit a lick either. Vines as usual looked good as did Greeg. Leach struck out once I think and competed. McSwain took some decent cuts. Seggen struck out I think 3 times and I don't remember her fouling a ball off. We could not bunt the runner to second with McSwain or seggren. McClain whiffed all three times I think. Geer whiffed twice and walked once. McSwain made another great catch in foul territory on a fly ball. Matty I though pitched pretty good. The ball by first looked foul to me but I don't remember anyone arguing the call. Unless we hit the ball it does not matter who the pitcher is. They are better than us at least at catcher, first base and probably other positions as well. Hard to tell about their defense without any balls hit.JMHO

True,Shortstop, tonight we saw a lot of swinging at air,as others have noted. Our Ladies were awed by reputation even before getting in the box. As to Barnhill replanting, she does it sideways about a foot from where she started on the rubber, thus giving hitters a different angle pitch. But,as long as it's not called,it's her advantage. And as a hitter, the different angle makes a big difference. Her pitches didn't seem to move much, except the rise ball and we certainly helped by swinging at a lot of head high pitches. Make this a learning experience and go hard tomorrow.

Right and the new plant is closer to the plate and the angle is more profound. Her speed all night was not any more than Mattys but we looked overmatched.

I noticed this about Barnhill's delivery while watching a video of her on the softball site. When she replants her right foot, it is forward and to the left of where it starts on or near the rubber, and so she is whipping the ball with inside-out action--coming in hard on right-handers and away from left-handers. So it's really a double advantage--gaining leverage closer to the plate and coming in from an off angle. This is why she is so hard to hit.

McLain cannot hit good pitching. She whiffs a lot--far too often for a slapper, and especially for someone with her speed. She's got to make contact.

I thought it was in, wife thought it was out. She played college ball so you should probably take her word over mine.

Shut out the last two games. Will they score at all this weekend?

I have an obvious bias here, but you might want to cut them some slack regarding run production this weekend.

Florida pitching is a completely different animal

Agree. Was it 2013 that the same kind of thing happened...FL pitcher went all year crow hopping without a call. Got to World Series and had 11 illegal pitches called in one game. Had to pull her. At least that's my memory, but it's foggy.

Anyone recall this?

And that's illegal. I'd watched several FL games on TV and knew it was happening, but live you can see it happens all the time. Hop and replant.

(She also screams when the pitch is all the way to the batter. But that's minor hindrance compared to the crow hop replant.)

Yea i had in my mind three recent examples one being the Florida case you mentioned above. I believe UT was a victim of this with either Ivy or Ellen 3-4 years ago. Also I believe it happened to Sheridan Hawkins from Oregon last year.
