Vols vs. Florida Softball Thread

This is why she is so hard to hit.

AND EXACTLY WHY IT IS ILLEGAL!

McLain cannot hit good pitching. She whiffs a lot--far too often for a slapper, and especially for someone with her speed. She's got to make contact.

You guys realize that CJ is the victim of a failed experiment. They took a top HS righty hitter and said "GIRL, YOU'RE FAST! POOF - YOU'RE NOW A LEFTY SLAPPER! " It's a miracle she ever hits the ball. She's hitting around 350 this season, which is a miracle really.

It's not just Barnhill. The other two just give the opposition hope.

I most always appreciate your posts, but you've got your gator glasses on here. Barnhill is a good pitcher made great by her cheating. She doesn't throw 80mph. She just jumps 2 feet closer to the plate, replants her foot, and throws.

For the life of me, I don't know why it isn't called. Just like why no one suspected Lance Armstrong of cheating after 6 straight Tours. Took the 7th before he was found out.

I'll be waiting.

What we need today is more contact hitters at the top of the lineup and players that can drive them in if they get on in the middle.
We have to get better pitching can't let them score five runs that means you lost.

Barnhill has pitched on trips to the West Coast the last couple of seasons and nothing has been called out there either. If her dominance is attributed to cheating I'm really surprised nobody has brought it up more. It's not as if she is above the game and officials are afraid to call her out. Wonder if the commentators on the SEC Now show would be willing to bring it up. An ex-Vol is on this weekend giving analysis.

Nope!

I understand the Barnhill is in a different planet statistically.

However, they have 2 other pitchers with an ERA under 1.

As far as the illegality of her pitches goes, the whole thing looks awkward to begin with. It's not how you teach someone to pitch and mechanically it's weird.

The only issue is the dragging of the foot and for the most part, they all do he same damn thing. Can you slide a couple dollar bills under there? Yeah. Is it coming off the ground any more prominently than any other pitcher? IMO, no

Gator, that is far from the only issue. The premier issue with Barnhill is the replanting of her pivot foot a foot or more to the left and two feet closer to the plate and then pitching from that position which is a clear advantage. Also the grunting to distract batters is a clear advantage. Catchers certainly can't do that. But,as I said earlier,if it's not called,it matters not.

I think this is the best lineup we can put on the field hope the top two can get on gives us a huge chance to score runs.

Evidently our pitchers are stressed ball up in the zone and walking a lot of batters. Then giving up the big hit. Looks like pitchers not ready to pitch like they have in this season.

Not a good beginning at all...Caylan wound up throwing 30 pitches, not to mention giving up 2 runs on a fly ball that Geer should have caught.

Weimer needs to play. They have not used her this year as well as most think they should. She was the best player in the conference where she played last year and should play more for us. At least when she swings she watches the ball. Not enough reps behind the play to determine her defense. Geer still chopping wood and Seggren looked to be doing the same again today. JMO

Her replant is easily the most obvious violation among pitchers over the last ten years.

Your point stands about the other two pitchers. Florida would be good without Barnhill.

Not sure about our body language today. They just don't have the look of a fighter.

Would be huge to get out of this inning without the Gators scoring again.

NM. They just scored. Over/under on getting run ruled?

I've said it before
And I'll say it again.
You can play a game
And play hard to win.
But no matter what,
When it's all said and done,
You can't win a game
Unless you score one.

Edit: or plus 6☹️

3 up, 3 down. Morrison in for Arnold. UF has scored every inning.

Cant imagine why ralph attempts to steal and takes bat out of Gregg and vines hand. Piss poor running fundamentals!!! Been pretty much a cluster**** all day. Outfield play poor and offense anemic. Defense as bad.

Team not ready to play this weekend. Pitchers have been all over the place with their pitches walks, getting pitches up in the strike zone. Way out of synch and the defense that has been stellar this season in total collapse today.
Florida definitely the superior team but I really expected us to compete at a higher level. We haven't really been focused think the opportunity to play the number one team got to us and we've looked rattled. Ole Miss played them better than we have hopefully we can at least play a decent game tomorrow regardless of whether we win or not.

The big question. CAN WE SCORE??? Hopefully this wrrkend we get a win tomorrow. But if not i will be ok as long as tourny time we get our revenge.
