Vols vs Tigers game thread - 3:30 ET CBS

I've seen Hopson play in HS. Great slasher and now he thinks he's a jump shooter all of a sudden.

He probably was. He's not playing that way now though unfortunately and that's what matters in the end here and now....

If he stays the same the rest of the season, does he still probably bolt to the NBA or will they tell him he needs another year to be more than just a "maybe late 2nd rounder"?

This game sucked! We make such bone head mistakes when momentum is shifting towards us. This team has no ability to maintain momentum without making a dumb mistake. We allow teams to hang around and that is retarded. Man this loss just eats me up. Evans killed us tonite and wasn't Mr. Hopson rated higher than him??? Pathetic!!

Anyone see the Memphis player's waving to the Tennessee fan's & blowing kisses to the crowd as they were walking off the court. No class whatsoever! I hated Memphis before this game i hate them even more now.

I saw that but I prefer to think they were addressing their own fans. I don't think they would engage in any taunting, etc. Memphis fans and players are known for being classy and high-brow. I should know- been living with them for 47 years.

Howell might have played defense, but that didn't make him any good at it.

Lucky to get in the NIT? Seriously?

Howell attempted to play defense...I've yet to see that from BMaze.

This team is not a lock for the tourney...

Last years team had great team leadership with Lofton and JuJuan. Certain players have stepped up their personal game at times, but the team leadership is not there this year.

Team speed is another thing that is missing this year. This roster is bigger and more athletic than years past, but they are slower. I don't think that Pearl's style is meshing well with the players that he has.

I really wish you were right, but what i saw they were taunting the Tennessee fan's. I know Taggart (sp.?) was doing it all around the arena as he was walking off.

You guys need to give yourself more credit. First off, your defense is better than you think. Memphis has scored around 81 point per game, and you held them to 54. Second, Memphis has held opponents with good defense to low scores all season so it wasn't that you have a terrible offense. It was a tough physical game that you almost won. You also need to ignore the CBS announcers. Those guys were just parroting what they were told before the game. Your transition play is deadly, but Memphis is very good at transition defense. It was just a case of strong against strong point.

Are you really asking that question??

This team will not make the tournament this year. They will have around 12 losses when its all said and done, and we can return to our normal men's basketball years of NIT action.

Does anyone else think this year's Tennessee team resemble's last year's Memphis team? Maybe just not with as much talent.

No biggie.

Thankfully, the SEC schedule should be enough to get them into the big tourney.

I'd hate to see UT in the Big East or ACC at this point, that's for sure.

What bothers me though is the fact that this team seems to quit once they're smacked in the mouth.

And we're going to get everyone's best shot, and I'm not sure they are mentally tough enough to handle it...even in the weak SEC.

agreed

Are you really asking that question??

I'm still new to college bball and the NBA and all the draft, rules, desicions, etc. I don't know or understand it nearly as well as I do college football and the NFL.

Also, I havent seen or really followed any UT bball games up in St. Louis and havent been able to catch anything more than final scores and records this year.

So, as pretty much the new guy to how all this works, yeah I'm asking a question like that

It is a simple game people...hit your free throws and you win....don't....and you go home with the "L"......
