Waaay to early 2012 prediction thread

Sept. 1 - NC State (Atlanta) -
Some are pointing to the UF game as the must win in the early part of the season, IMO this is the one that Dooley needs to win to get the team, BOT and fan base in his corner or the 2012 season may be similar to the previous two.

Sept. 15 - Florida
After losing 7 in a row we are in no position to be chalking this up as a "W".

There is a chance of starting 1-2 and if this scenario occurs, then it will be interesting to see if CDD can remain on as HBC thru the remainder of the season.

In regards to Georgia's soft schedule and how they seem to manage to avoid the big dogs from the Western conference...

..their 2 game series with the cream puffs will be over after next year. They will be replaced with someone stronger from the West.

If we stay healthy and this young talent comes through, UT could be a frontrunner, or at least a legitimate contender to represent the SEC east in the 2013 SEC Championship Game.

Sorry to get off topic, but I take it you are from Hendersonville,TN. My uncle is the coach there.

I think our D will be a force next season at all 3 levels.

I like the chances of the Oline improving dramatically.

The big ?'s IMO are can we find a gamebreaking RB and the kickers.

do you have the jamaican bobsled team also bringing home the gold?

Get over it. I am optimistic that our team is going to dramatically improve, that isn't that insane of a statement when you look at the talent returning. If we don't I will be wrong, but I have followed this team for over 20 years as close as anyone can and I feel like i am pretty good at setting my expectations at the right level.

The last time we saw this team play was UK. Same players, same coaches, same chemistry, same culture. So until we see visible, tangible signs of positive change, I'm not confident that we will find our footing and open strong to beat NC State or UF. Losing both of those early games or both UF and UGA would probably cause a fatal loss of support for Dooley. It's almost unfathomable that he couldn't find a way to pick up 7 next year, but it could be a struggle unless we see significant change right from the start.

I think it has been established that 9-3 is managable, so do y'all think that we could sneak into the championship with that record and losses to uga, uscjr, and bama?

i would say you are insane.

there is no proven talent anywhere on that team except qb and wr.

i don't know where the heck all this talent some of you speak of is.

take the offensive line. a lot of people make the "they're young and need to mature" argument.

if that were the case and all they needed was time to mature, they would still demolish inferior competition and manage to hold their own every now and then against superior competition with only youth and inexperience causing a problem or sophomore blocking a senior issues.

but, that's not the case. they can't block against inferior personnel. be it kentucky or montana or whoever.

bottom line, in 2012, this team still has offensive line and defensive line issues.....among other problems.

it's a line of scrimmage league and tennessee is weak in the trenches (which is also why florida isn't very good right now as their offensive line is about as useless as tennessee's)

7-5 or 6-6...I love reading all of these inflated predictions. Our running game is not going to suddenly start steam rolling people. We lose to uga sc bama mizz and maybe split with uf and mizz. Our defensive line and linebackers are still very weak compared to more veteran sec teams.

I think the NCST game will be a big key for us next year. I hope we win and win big to get some steam going into the season.

It is a huge game for us. Emphasis on huge. I dont even want to think about losing that game. We have to be undefeated when Florida comes to town. I hope we finally beat the gators. It has been way too long. I think Bama will be a tough game, but they are losing everyone. You can say well yeah they just reload. That is true. You can have all the talent in the world, but you have to have chemistry first. All I am trying to say is its not a given that Bama comes to Neyland and wins. UGA will be tough on the road. I say at best we are 10-2 maybe 11-1 winning the east. At worse we are 8-4 hopefully.

Wow Mizz was horrid last year. Did you even watch the SC & UGA game? You think fully healthy those would have been losses?

I was at the games...yes, I think we still lose. Uga and SC played horrific and still won by 8 or more. We were never really that close in either game. I think I fell asleep during the uga game.

How was Mizz horrid this year? Didnt they win 8 games? Losing to a laughable KY team and going 5-7 is what I call horrid.
