Waaay to early 2012 prediction thread

Sept. 1 - NC State (Atlanta) -
Some are pointing to the UF game as the must win in the early part of the season, IMO this is the one that Dooley needs to win to get the team, BOT and fan base in his corner or the 2012 season may be similar to the previous two.

Sept. 15 - Florida
After losing 7 in a row we are in no position to be chalking this up as a "W".

There is a chance of starting 1-2 and if this scenario occurs, then it will be interesting to see if CDD can remain on as HBC thru the remainder of the season.
------------------------------

florida beats florida next year

we just happen to be there

i would say you are insane.

there is no proven talent anywhere on that team except qb and wr.

i don't know where the heck all this talent some of you speak of is.

take the offensive line. a lot of people make the "they're young and need to mature" argument.

if that were the case and all they needed was time to mature, they would still demolish inferior competition and manage to hold their own every now and then against superior competition with only youth and inexperience causing a problem or sophomore blocking a senior issues.

but, that's not the case. they can't block against inferior personnel. be it kentucky or montana or whoever.

bottom line, in 2012, this team still has offensive line and defensive line issues.....among other problems.

it's a line of scrimmage league and tennessee is weak in the trenches (which is also why florida isn't very good right now as their offensive line is about as useless as tennessee's)
======================

if hunter doesn't go down, the pretty poor vols add another 100 yards and 14+ points vs. UF...and you've got nothing to say here...

they can't run any worse than they did in 2011, which it say that UT's passing game is good enough to beat UF

USCjr also lost 2 of it's best coaches.
I agree.

He can't afford to lose early this coming season. The shape UF is in, he needs that win. It would be nice to absolutely curb stomp them, but the D is still going to be good for the gators.

UGA is the paper champion in the East for 2012. Richt seems to struggle when he has expectations.

Lattimore isn't going to be 100% and USCe loses 2 starters from their defensive front. Alshon is probably going pro too.

Mizzou is going to probably give a few teams trouble because of the unorthodox O they run.

with no leadership, terrible SP teams,a QB that has been pointed out as being unproven against a quality team,no reason to think the running game will be better next year, and a team that seems to not care very much for the head coach, maybe.

but I still don't see it being that bad,,,,,I hope!!

Just saying.
there is no way in hell this team goes from being one of the worst teams in FBS to one of the best...no way...they might finish 7 and 5..MIGHT. but they will lose the bowl game. and flame me if you will..but I'm just being realistic.

Ahhh the off season optimism, its nice but I try to be level minded. Call me a negavol but... There's really no way in my eyes we win more than 8 games. Think about it, do we suddenly improve that much? I just don't see it.

It's very possible with this squad and staff, include the possibilities of injuries to any valuable personnel and they may go winless again in the SEC until November.

If this does occur then I assume the BOT and AD will begin their search for CDD's replacement before the end of the season.

An opening loss could derail the season, so I think it's critical to open with a win and go into the Florida game with confidence and momentum; playing at home could make it a winning trifecta. That would set up a decent season, while two early losses could kill us. I think a loss to NC State could start the convos with our choice prospects, a loss to UGA could start serious discussions and a loss to Miss St. and USCe could get him Nutted. I think the UK debacle shortened Dooley's opportunity here, and key players transferring and/or increasing the volatility will not help. So we have to win right out of the gate.

When your boss uses words like "unacceptable" to describe your performance, he is sending a clear warning: fix it or I'll have to. Most fans hope Dooley can do just that. If not, I doubt we'll be caught without an exit strategy, should next season blow up early. If we are winless in the SEC after Miss St., Dooley will have little goodwill left. JMO.

How many played Florida with a healthy Brantley?

Make no mistake, both teams sucked. However, if Dooley is worth a damn, Tennessee will beat Florida in 2012.

Fully healthy I really like our chances in the UGA and USCjr game. NCst worries me a little and Bama I don't see us even being competitive in but tha'ts why we play the game.

I don't think anyone would object at that point. This upcoming year we need to be competitive in the SEC.

I'm a bit of an over-the-top optimist soooo:
2012, Tennessee goes 11-1 with an SEC East championship, fights a losing battle in the championship game, and goes to...say...the Sugar Bowl and beats...say...the USC Trojans. Final record: 12-2

:p

GBO!
