War in Ukraine

Crimea was part of Russia/USSR up until 1991. There was no way Russia was going to jeopardize their Black Sea Fleet.
Most of these guys and gals have poor knowledge when it comes to history.

Also keep in mind we're dealing with people here who got all excited at the thought of people dying, believed numerous fake news stories already, and have the strangest fantasies about Putin.

And Alaska was owned by the Russians until it wasn't. What's your point?

Sounds like they didn't think that Black Sea fleet security bit all the way through.

My point is that Crimea has historic and military significance and is far more apart of their history than Alaska.

We will the more we make it our war..
Nothing would please me more than seeing the Germans pick up the tab on some rebuild. Or watch the CCP when they fumble the ball
I’m really hoping for some of that woke European guilt and virtue signaling to kick in when it’s rebuild time. Especially on Germany RE Russian aggression.

Oh. So if they REALLY REALLY want to steal it, that's cool?

I didn't realize that if something that is coveted is "super important", then all would be forgiven. My bad, clearly Putin was well within his rights to take what he wanted.

No, they are fully aware of history. They know full well that if the United States was in the same situation that we would be doing the same thing Russia is doing.

Imagine if Castro had made a play on Guantanamo Bay.

And he could have easily done the same to Donbas and NATO and Kyiv wouldn't have done a thing about it.

That and having NATO actually expand.

OMFG Sweden and Finland joining NATO is a big ole fat cherry on top. Look at that big ole continuous border Russia is about to have with NATO. They better keep whatever spears and slingshots they have left when this is over in check and repaired. They’re gonna need them to man the new frontier 😂

I think the MIC is a scapegoat..they have to have political dance partners. What better business than seeing nations at war over the course of human history. That is smart investing IMO
Oh no don’t be letting the MIC off easy I can assure you they’re balls deep in this over spending knee jerk response.

Oh trust me. They aren't fully aware. I'd say 90 percent at least had no idea Transnistria even existed until I mentioned it. Then again some of this crew claimed Poland or the UK could wipe the floor with Russia by themselves. Lol that was a good one.

I was going to say they really don't believe that... but now that I think about it, I think they do. So with regards to their faith in NATO's military strength, I think we can agree that they are delusional. But with regards to history, they know good and damn well that they are creating a double standard for Russia that they would not have for the US, Israel, Turkey, Britain or Saudi Arabia.

He had boots on the ground in Kazakhstan.
He had 2300 in Kazakhstan, depending on which source you want to use that is somewhere between 2.3% and 1.5% of the forces he has in Ukraine. I am also not seeing any armor referenced, and only limited air assets. And of course no Black Sea fleet or VDV, at least that I see reference too. Or chechens for that matter.

And Russia has long been more effective in putting down peasants than they have been in facing organized militaries.
