Putin’s speech today was just as crazy, if not more, than the one when he justified the invasion in February. He has clearly lost his mind and I’m starting to doubt that he wouldn’t use nukes in this conflict.

Once this current fiasco is over I think it makes sense for them to join. But oh hell no to do this now and create a situation where Article 5 could come into play on a non NATO country invaded before their application. That’s not how “insurance” works.

I could see NATO membership being a condition for Ukraine ceding territory if they ever do agree to give up Donbas/Crimea.

I'm hoping someone inside Russia will grow pair and end the reign of that gangster Putin then actually move the country into the 21st century. It's a long shot since NATO and our government doesn't want that to happen, they need an enemy to justify their existence.

I don’t see how Putin can survive this. The referendums will be universally rejected and he is going to be forced to respond to that rejection to back up his bluff. Which will result in further pain on the average Russian.

The Russian "race" ;) is not known for independent thought or strong willed men. They are basically poorer, less educated French. So who knows, it's almost as if there is something in their genetics that makes them desirous of tyranny.

Well, if he is crazy what does that make the west because what would one call someone that wants to **** with another that has how many tactical nuclear weapons let alone 5,000 strategic nuclear weapons?

Hopefully his underlings that would have to relay the orders to launch nukes know they'll be dead if they carry the orders out.
