1. Going to war or provoking war with a nuclear power (China) is a greater risk than developing our own domestic chip production. In the meantime, maybe... just maybe, we would be better served to not be provocative and instead employ diplomacy.1) I don't disagree that we shouldn't have exported that industry, however it will take a decade plus to bring that all back if we are lucky. In the meantime only a complete dumba$$ would just let the commies take that over. Give Taiwan weapons so they can make mince meat out of the Chicoms if the choose to invade. Gotta clean up our mistake if an invasion does indeed take place.
2) Because only a stupid person would do that. Yeah lets risk critical items to our country just to let others try to take care of this for us. Think before you post. I am guessing that you would have even opposed the revolutionary war. God save King George!
3) "You clowns"??? You are the one that keeps looking like a clown in this thread. I sold off most of my stocks last September in anticipation of this and will buy on the cheap. I don't disagree that the market has been propped up and overvalued. Savvy investors will cash in over the next half decade.
Exactly... the people. The civilians... not the leadership or military.Crush the German people’s will, remember that the battle of the bulge had just finished.

But to suggest that there wasn't a bit of intimidation aimed at the USSR isn't out of the question. Like I said, plausible. I didn't say it was 100%, it just seemed like a reasonable assumption if you are looking at it from the Soviet perspective.
