War in Ukraine

Just saw this in the Kamala/Hurricane Ian thread... Can you be white and Jewish? Is whie a race? Is Jewish a race?

'Is your husband’s life worth less bc he’s white?': Marjorie Taylor Greene Gets Very Personal in Her Criticism of Kamala Harris as Republicans tear into her hurricane 'equity' comments

  • Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized Vice President Kamala Harris with a brazen tweet calling out her husband Doug Emhoff
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia asked Vice President Kamala Harris if her husband's life was 'worth less' because he is white in an astonishingly brazen Twitter post on Monday.

The conservative firebrand was reacting to Harris' recent comments suggesting that equity should be prioritized over equality when distributing hurricane relief in Puerto Rico and Florida.

Greene likened Harris' remarks to discrimination in her Monday tweet.

'@KamalaHarris hurricanes do not target people based on the color of their skin. Hurricanes do not discriminate,' the outspoken congresswoman wrote.

'And neither should the federal government giving aid to people suffering from the devastation of Hurricane Ian.'

She added: 'Is your husband’s life worth less bc he’s white?'

I remember the discussion about this in the thread where people were arguing whether or not Jewish was a race. Most agreed it was. Some did not agree. However when I mentioned Mandeans being their own race it seemed to offend someone for whatever reason. That reason is still unknown.

Doesn't really matter. There would have been no Soviet Union without Russia, and in reality Russia was the owner/operator of the Soviet Union with the rest being vassal states - ask Hungary, Poland, and most of the rest about that.
Same owner different name on the business. Sometimes you gotta change your name to try and hide from your prior stupidity

Yep, it seems that everybody (except the government supposedly - a joke) is profiling everybody else, collecting and selling personal data, and mining what they have. Why would anyone expect twitter to be doing differently. Seems like twitter just might have done a little banning and censoring in the past.

And we KNOW that several Chinese state intelligence agents are directly on Twitter’s payroll as an employee already. Who knows what agreements our own various agencies have with them. Don’t believe me? Ask people who were at the capital on 1/6.

Look at the majority of the early leaders of the Soviet Union. They were not necessarily ethnic Russians. Stalin was Georgian. Trotsky was Ukrainian Jewish. Lenin was a mix of different things. True, the capital was Moscow, but it wasn't necessarily ethnic Russians running the show.

I am probably just as jaded about our state department and people like the Dulles brothers as you are. In fact, I think we'd be in a far better place if we just executed and buried diplomats world wide - all of them.
I disagree, if anything, we actually need true diplomats and to practice genuine diplomacy more... not relying on our military to resolve these issues. Had we had diplomats that could see Russia's security concerns in the same manner that we see our own security concerns, we could have avoided this entire Ukraine/NATO debacle in the early 1990s.

However, the thing you fail to grasp is that our meddling has been generally reactive and Sino/Soviet meddling proactive - and ours has often been in response to Sino/Soviet meddling. You are generally throwing the flag on the guy who fought back and ignoring the instigator. Banana Republics and bananas have always been a problem - much of it caused by the greed, graft, and corruption of the Latin type European colonizers in the southern part of this hemisphere.
Let's say what you say is true (I think it is closer to being a mixed bag of USSR and US meddling), it still comes down to the majority of these situations having nothing to do with us or of no strategic benefit to us ("us" meaning average everyday Americans). Who gives a damn what goes on in SE Asia or the Middle East? Oh oh oh... the Middle East has oil. So? If we developed our own domestic oil production and were friendly neighbors with oil producers in this hemisphere, there would be no need to meddle in a sandbox on the other side of the globe. That is simply pizz pour leadership... at best. At worst, it is a corrupt, rapacious leadership class that doesn't feel the need to use diplomacy, but instead chooses military solutions.

You obviously weren't around for enough of the Cold War to gain historical perspective.
Hey Boomer, the information is out here to understand completely what was going on during the Cold War. What kind of historical perspective do I need to gain in order to understand Vetnam, Guatemala, Iran, Congo, Chile or any of these other debacles? This is still recent history and most of the players involved were still alive well into my lifetime to talk about or write about the stories.

Just because you lived through an era, that doesn't give you more historical perspective. It just gives you more of an emotional perspective because you lived through the times and have a better sense of the atmosphere. But having a feeling about a time period doesn't necessarily mean that the facts around the origins of these events is any different.

That wasn't the point of me saying "different govt". To compare the USSR to the Russian Federation as being the same is ridiculous.

The problem isn't Twitter (necessarily). The issue is your govt being able to weaponize Twitter and the rest of these social media companies.

From March-August: “Russia is winning. They continue to advance slowly and methodically in the Donbas and in the south.”

From September-Now: “Russia is still winning because Ukraine is barely taking any territory.”

“Those towns and land Russia is giving up are insignificant gains for Ukraine. These aren’t retreats, but rather strategic regroupings.”

Who takes which ant hill on any particular day, to turn around another group of ants come in and retake the ant hill is basically moot.

All those ant hills are pretty meaningless at this point.

Kind of like NATO is nothing without the United States and the European Union is nothing without Germany. Everyone is now along for the ride.

The Russian military and leadership has been/is being exposed as quite embarrassing. They are poorly trained, unmotivated, their technology and weaponry is outdated sh** buckets. Now Putin is scrounging up the poor to send into Ukraine with tampons and 130 year old weapons, no winter gear or rations, just to get blown to bits by superior western weapons. The question is will the Russian people tire of it enough to do something about it.

1. This isn’t related to the current argument, it’s just an attempt at deflection that doesn’t make sense.
2. NATO includes two other countries with nuclear weapons.
3. Independent nations want to join the EU and NATO. Independent nations don’t want to join Russia.

Exactly, which is why the Russians are in the Ukraine. LoL

The question is will the Russian people tire of it enough to do something about it

I guess in theory that is possible, insert United States puppet regime.

What is going on in the Ukraine is mostly irrelevant at this stage, all the major parties have agreed for its destruction.
