War in Ukraine

A lot of this rhetoric goes back to what we saw from the Soviets before and during the Cold War. They just announce stupid BS and everybody is supposed to take it as gospel. It's always been part of the KGB propaganda mill where Pootin was hatched. Probably because of the number of nukes both sides had pointed at teach other, nobody really told the Russians back in the USSR to STFU. We're doing the same with the Chinese now instead of telling them to crawl back into their hole - probably because we've made them Walmart and financed a huge (perhaps modern - see Russian stuff first) military for them. Maybe the point is that if you've been successful at selling people the crock of schiff known as communism, then you would believe you can sell anybody anything.
The communist also sold the ideological justification as well. The great satan of capitalism. Pretty easy to drop the capitalism argument and keep the great Satan bit. And your population already knows the rhetoric so its easy to swallow this latest round of bs.

Well, those crazy Finns are building a fence to keep Russian illegal aliens out. Imagine all the trouble and cost they could save by listening to our own "walls and fences don't work" mostly dem experts. They just might have picked up on and be trying to head off a problem in Ukraine - stray Russians claiming (and allegedly voting in "free" elections) that they want their new homeland to be part of Russia.

According to Marin, the fence’s main purpose would be to help border guards monitor and prevent possible large-scale illegal migration seen as a hybrid threat” from Moscow.

What a thought. Marin is the hot Prime Minister we've been drooling over, BTW.

With current events going on it makes sense to want to limit how many Russians you have. Ras will be in here justifying the invasion of Finland to save the Russians in Finland from having snowballs thrown at them.

Ukraine Situation Report: Possible Drone Boat Attack On Russian Port

Initially I thought Ukraine should limit military actions to defensive measures and chasing Russian troops out of Ukraine. I'm adapting to the thought that they should put out a message stating they will follow the Israeli model of retaliation. "If you strike us, we will retaliate ... and eye for an eye. Hope your people in Russia like drafty apartments and no heat." I'd still temper the response with strikes that generally don't involve civilians - no apartment buildings, hospitals, schools, etc; but infrastructure - especially power related - is fair game.

It's a response in kind, you hit infrastructure we hit infrastructure. And this entire invasion appears to be about warm water port access ...... Hit them where it strikes at the heart of the conflict.

I haven't seen anything where he's specifically asked the west to retaliate and strike Russia.

WTF do you call this? What do you think he was implying/suggesting when he said "NATO territory"?

"Hitting NATO territory with missiles. … This is a Russian missile attack on collective security! This is a really significant escalation. Action is needed," Zelensky said during his nightly address on Tuesday.

That's interesting. Something to watch.

The article talked about a block to replace the warhead ... uranium and plutonium are really dense and heavy - a little goes a long way, so you suppose the original warhead would be fairly heavy. You could pack conventional explosives or even the material for a dirty bomb in there. Space rather than weight would probably be the limitation. I'll plead ignorance on warheads, though - not the part of nuclear engineering we were taught at UT.

Probably not too hard to replicate with a simple lead or tungsten on aluminum carrier assembly. On seeing them using this I’m guessing it’s just another no so veiled threat. “This one was inert but the next one might be live.”

It could be a threat, or they might just want to hit a substation with a big chunk of metal. I don't remember how accurate those are supposed to be, but a hit could do some damage.

They’re GPS guidance so I’d guess a handful of meters CEP. Just a guess 🤷‍♂️. So it would take a direct hit to kill.
