War in Ukraine

Any O6 up is already kissing ass of at least one company to get a post military gig. Lot of O5’s too. At this point it’s expected.
I'm a GS-15 and I have several government contractors dropping me lines asking when I retire (which is 14 years away). To be honest, I already have 25 years of service and if some government contractor can best my salary I'd contemplate bailing...if they can give me a remote only job. I haven't had to kiss any of their asses yet, just doing my job as a consummate professional has been enough which is apparently not that common nowadays.

lol. Bless your heart.
Like I told Dallas. I'll tell you the same. Please continue to make yourself look stupid. As it is on full display for everyone to see.

Plus numerous stories you trolls have shared have turned out being false. I'm sure there will be more.

Oh... I forgot about the frostbite narrative. Yeah, my bad. Just like Ghost of Kyiv and Snake Island. I'm sure out of 170k soldiers, you will have cases of frostbite here or there, but I'm pretty sure that Russians generally know how to prepare for cold weather.
More "frostbite narrative" for you, my little love muffin

And I have talked about Russia and Ukraine. Had NATO not moved to Russia's borders, had the Obama State Department not forced Yanukovich to sign a trade deal that prohibited Ukraine from dealing with Russia as well as the EU, had that same State Department with Victoria Nuland and the gang not lead a coup/regime change operation and had Ukraine simply abided by the Minsk ceasefire agreements, we wouldn't be here.

Unfortunately, you guys choose to ignore those facts.
Lol.

1. Russia wanted to join NATO as recently as 2002, that invalidates any concern of NATO moving west.
1b. The last time, pre Finland, NATO moved on Russias border was the same 2002. 20 years ago. Hard to justify Russias being upset by something they wanted at the same time.
2. Obama didnt force Yanukovich to sign anything, as he did not sign anything. Except with Russia.
2b. As you constantly ignore Yanokuvich actually ran on a campaign of closer ties to the west.
2c. The proposed deal did not in any way, shape, or form, limit trade with Russia. If you bothered to read it, you would know this. All it did was expand Ukraines market opportunities.
2d. If you needed further proof of this, where is this trade deal after Yanukovich was run out of town? Seems like if the coup was done to get in an anti Russian trade deal, that trade deal would be in place now. It doesnt exist. Or at least didnt pre feb 2022. You are missing a very key piece of your conspiracy. You dont have a smoking gun, or even a gun, or even a shooting.
3. Nuland had a phone call after the "coup" discussing who the new leader would be. That is not nefarious in the slightest. It's hard job to know who is going to be in charge so they can know how our relations are going to look. Any nations state department was going to be discussing this with their ambassador to Ukraine.
3b. Nulands cookies is the lamest continuous argument you guys make.
3c. It wasnt a coup. His government went through the legal process of removing him. In this "coup" means Russia didnt like the results.
3d. There have been two elections and two different presidents since the "coup". Seems like the democratic process has played out. And somehow, dispite you claiming wide spread Russian support we have not seen any major pro Russian parties gaining support, even before 2022. So even on the local level, no one wants Russia.

You are the one ignoring facts. You wont back up your arguments with anything, you will just say "sheeple" and avoid actual discussion. You ignore, deflect, twist and play the victim to avoid discussing the actual facts or providing actual support for your arguments. Maybe if you didnt hide behind the ignore function you would learn something.

The kiss ass comment was a bit harsh. The gov and civilian people work hand in hand for decades sometimes, especially on the procurement side, so it’s a natural progression. My main problem is when you see a retiree now in a suit working the same program or program areas. THAT is a huge conflict of interest and I thought it was actually illegal.

And I'm sure that money goes to people who probably donated to campaigns or to friends of these politicians. Just like much of the legislation that has been passed has helped the spouses and families of politicians.

I'll say it again. The MIC needs these conflicts globally in order for them to profit and they have the salesmen - lobbyists, congressmen, senators- to ensure they will get their funding.

Eisenhower was 100% correct in talking about the MIC in his farewell speech.

And you are free to refute any of the points I've made just now. Would you like to make the claim that Eisenhower was wrong?
Now apply this same logic to Russia.

Russias MIC is controlled by oligarchs aligned with Putin. They also wanted a war to justify increased spending. They have a long history of maintaining these frozen conflicts to maintain spending. And they clearly fear monger the US every chance they get to keep the public blind to their spending. Russia spends more of their GDP on their military than we do. Which is saying something. 4.1 vs 3.3, and 2.5 required by NATO.

Ranked: Top 10 Countries by Military Spending

I would be careful throwing rocks in your glass house.

Oh another thing. At the O-4 and down grades a lot of those guys and gals actually have working skills and knowledge that cross over well. One of the best software engineers that I worked with who understood the community was a retired E8. But I’d guess most O6’s and all stars have minimal working skill and their only use is influence and connections. You see it over and over.

Get wet and stay that way with no shelter or warmth during the day, let them temp drop into the teens or low twenties at night and you can certainly die within a day or two like that.

This is true. And if they're in that close contact with Ukrainian forces, building a fire is out unless you can find a vacant shelter of some sort. If those are conscripts, they should've built an enormous fire and thrown up a white flag on a long tree limb.

Excellent post.

Gotta be pretty dumb to die of hypothermia at 43 degrees.

True, assuming you have warm clothes and plenty to eat. If 43 is the high it could be dropping to 20 at night. If you're not dressed for cold weather and don't have enough food and you get wet and you're in that condition for an extended period, it will take a toll.

Like I said, you have to be pretty dumb to die of hypothermia at 43 degrees. Especially in groups, a single individual I can understand but not groups of soldiers just lying down and dying.

We're looking at Boeing making a cheaper alternative to HIMARS missiles with a range of around 100 miles. If greenlighted, will be available Spring of next year or so.

ATACMS I think ended production in the 90’s? The Army has been wrangling since then for a next generation munition. I believe one was actually put under contract but later cancelled. Just going from memory could be wrong.

Edit: I looked it up ATACMS was cancelled in 2007.

If you have an e-tool you can build an Dakota fire hole.

You take a bunch of conscripts from the city and dump them in Ukraine, tell them this is their post and if they abandon it they die. With no cold weather training, insufficient cold weather gear, no water repelling outer layers and you don't have to be stupid to die, the people leading you on the other hand have to be stupid, or simply don't give a damn.
