War in Ukraine

"Inconceivable. Why loot when you have the world's greatest economy that has only been strengthened by western sanctions? Plus, our boys are manly Christians who believe Ukrainians are our brother. Besides, Russia has the world's best, most plentiful, reasonably priced eggs" -- @Rasputin_Vol

"Peanuts" only when compared to our massively bloated defense budget

5% of our annual defense budget to watch Russia's military get bent over? Yes please.

It's going to get spent anyway, whether we bitch about the amount or not. May as well be put to good use.

"US spending of 5.6% of its defense budget to destroy nearly half of Russia’s conventional military capability seems like an absolutely incredible investment. If we divide out the US defense budget to the threats it faces, Russia would perhaps be of the order of $100bn-150bn in spend-to-threat. So spending just $40bn a year, erodes a threat value of $100-150bn, a two-to-three time return.  Actually the return is likely to be multiples of this given that defense spending, and threat are annual recurring events. "

It ain't close. But it's where Russia parks their bombers and stores some ballistic missiles. Same one Ukraine hit a few weeks back with some modified Soviet-era drone.

Hate to see it. Is anyone surprised they didn't learn their lesson from the first hit earlier this month?

That’s dumber than ****. Russia is/was no threat to us militarily (cyber yes) but there is no return for us on this.

A surplus? I thought the Ghost of Kyiv had single handedly wiped out the Russian air force?

Russia to supply Iran with 24 Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets - I24NEWS

Western intelligence sources who monitor security deals between Iran and Russia say Moscow will soon provide a full squadron of fighter jets to the Islamic Republic.

It will apparently be 24 Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets, originally produced for Egypt under a deal that was torpedoed by the United States. The Russians were looking for buyers for the unsold surplus, and it looks like Tehran will be getting those planes very soon. According to an intelligence report, Iranian pilots are already training on these planes.

They will likely be getting the S-400 defense system...

So far, Iran has supplied 1,700 suicide drones to Russia for its war in Ukraine, and expects to supply 300 more in the near future. In return, Tehran should receive air defense systems from Moscow which will be put into service in anticipation of a possible Israeli attack.

Israel considers that these agreements could constitute an opportunity for it, insofar as finally the Iranian intentions would be clear - much more even than its violations of the nuclear agreement. However, there is concern in Jerusalem over the ability for Israel to attack Iranian targets in Syria as Russia controls the neighboring country's airspace and has until now has allowed Israeli attacks to take place.

Why do we need to spend 5% of our annual defense budget to help fight an already incompetent military? Especially one that represents the "trailer park of the world" or the "gas station of the world".

I disagree. If Ukraine comes through this mostly intact we have the potential to pick up a militarily strong ally in a strategically important part of the world. They are one of the most agriculturally important regions in all of Europe. Once they have rebuilt all shiny and new they will probably become a strong manufacturing region. If nothing else Russia will not be attacking and or invading another neighbor any time soon. That in itself is worth the cost.

Russia isn't a threat. You and your fellow trolls said their military was incompetent and Russia itself is the "trailer park of the world". Ukraine can handle them by themselves without our help. There's much better things to spend those billions in our own country.

When the hell is Russia going to realize that they are running out of missiles???

Russia has no sufficient stock of artillery munitions for large-scale offensive in Ukraine - British intelligence

British intelligence believes that for the same reason, due to the limited availability of cruise missiles, Russia has likely limited long-range missile strikes on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure to around once a week.

"A vulnerability of Russia's current operational design is that even just sustaining defensive operations along lengthy front line requires a significant daily expenditure of shells and rockets," the summary emphasizes.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukrainian military intelligence intercepted a phone call of a Russian soldier, in which he says his comrades-in-arms mutilate themselves in order to be sent back home.

Now wait... WTF does this last sentence have to do about Russian missile supplies? Literally looks like they just threw this in at the end of the story. And of course, the ever trustworthy British Intelligence tells us this missile shortage story. They believe this to be so.

Do you think China is a threat to us? If yes, what's the difference?

That's called whataboutism. Plus China is where they are because many of our corporations decided to take much of their business over there.

And I'm actually to the point that we need to start working together with some nations instead of us thinking they are our subordinates.

Not only subordinates, but our enemies.

And what these clowns refuse to realize is that this disruptive and chaotic foreign policy we have and the people that support it, are using this same tactic domestically on those that disagree with them here in America. Instead of sanctioning a country, they cancel individuals. The same way they demonize Russians is the same way they demonize the deplorables, the unvaccinated and 2A supporters. The entire ideology is toxic to mankind and needs to be eliminated.

I am actually disappointed in many conservatives/ Republicans with their continued pro war stance. And I'll be the first to admit I was fooled by many people like Ben Shapiro, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz and many of the people who write for places like Breitbart and National Review. Many have shown their true colors this past year.
