War in Ukraine

China is friendly with Russia as long as they can keep buying Russian resources for cheap and America is distracted in Europe instead of East Asia. China is not a true ally to Russia. China has always wanted Manchuria back and they want Russia's fresh water. Russia doesn't really appreciate that China has essentially replaced them in the 'Stans as they new big daddy on the block. Russia doesn't want to be China's little brother and China already has heavy economic control over them. They don't need to be in a strong military alliance with Russia.

Have you looked at the source for this?

If we're going to call one side propaganda for its bias, it's reasonable to call this propaganda for its bias as well.
1. its been a consistent source. so far as I have seen its been the only consistent source. so even if the exact numbers are wrong, its the only one giving consistent data. so you can add or subtract from it however you want, but the rates tell the best story we have.
2. the leaks have largely backed this up. these numbers are towards the top end of the range from the leak, so some very important people in this nation are at least working from similar assumptions to this.
3. I keep asking the people who attack this info to provide better. until that point this is the best we have. and no "best" doesn't inherently mean "good" in this situation.

Taking one (directly highly invested) side's info as gospel while talking out of the other side of the mouth about the other highly invested side being propaganda is as stupid as anything anyone does in this conflict. I'm not interested in digging around to provide "better" data. The reality is there isn't any data- it's all crap. Sharing it as anything more than something to raise eyebrows at is, again, stupid.

I do find the claim highly dubious that Russia has had 200k troop casualties, but that's just gut feeling.

I'm not sure about that number either, but based on the tactics I've seen Russian forces use they are taking a high number of needless killed and wounded. Russian war philosophy is extremely taxing in terms of men and equipment.

he literally just posted it without comment. you are reading into too much. he isn't selling it as the gospel or even historical truth.

As I broke down, I appreciate it because its the ONLY consistent source I have seen. I would find it very difficult to follow along the war without SOMETHING to go on, and this is the only SOMETHING consistently out there.

I would be interested in seeing what that source says about Ukraine's losses. But I find it difficult to critique the source as the only one out there willing to post anything. Even when the Russians talk about Ukraine's losses they are just random reports, with no context, and you saw them multiply Ukrainian losses by 3x in the span of a month. It went from 100k at the end of 2022, to 200k when they got heavy into retaking Bakhmut, and now we are supposed to believe its well over 300k according to the Russians. This source hasn't made any ridiculous jumps like that.

I don't find it difficult to believe that the Russians have lost close to 200k. They started the conflict with 150k men. Then had to conscript another 500k, and we haven't seen the battlefield change with ALL those new troops. That says to me Russia is taking consistent losses with not much land to show for it, that is going to lead to relatively high casualties. and yes I think Ukraine is suffering similar losses. I have them over 150k.

"Casualty" doesn't mean dead, nor does it mean that wounded aren't almost immediately treated and returned to duty. It's also possible that a person can be a casualty multiple times. There are no precise data during wartime because the conditions aren't great for accountants, statisticians, and census takers. The best you can do is generalities and trends. Numbers can be inflated especially for equipment losses since multiple observers might see and report it without coordination to eliminate a multiple count.

Yes. As I predicted over 6 months ago, this has turned into a bloody stalemate. Russian artillery has been effective, it's one thing they do well. On the flip side, they use the same old, tired infantry and cavalry (now mechanized) tactics that they have used for over a hundred years now. This throwing of men and equipment into the meat grinder leads to dreadful losses for them.

US military releases declassified video of fully armed Russian fighter jets intercepting American jets over Syria on two separate occasions

US Central Command released videos Wednesday of Russian fighter jets intercepting American jets over Syria on two separate occasions, as tensions continue to escalate between the two nations.

The videos show high-quality infrared views of a Russian Su-35 intercepting an American craft just a month after General Michael 'Erik' Kurilla, head of Central Command, said he's seen a spike in aggressive Russian activity.

'We have seen a significant spike since about March 1 in Syria,' General Kurilla told the Senate Armed Services Committee on March 16.

Kurilla has previously also warned that a Russian invasion of Ukraine could spill over into Syria, where Moscow might try to act as a 'spoiler.'

US Air Force Central says that armed Russian crafts have directly flown over Coalition-held territories in Syria 26 times between March 1 and April 19 of this year.

The video shows the Russian pilot go within 2,000 feet of the American jet which defies long-standing protocols

Dmitry Medvedev

German journalists from Die Welt directly urge the head of the Ukrainian Nazis not to repeat the mistakes of the German Fuhrer, which were committed near Stalingrad. Sincere people. Finally, they realized that:
1. This actor is a real proven fascist, the true heir to the National Socialists of Germany.
2. The defeat of his regime will be the same as in Stalingrad. Although this petty Banderite is not Field Marshal Paulus at all.

Pretty good photoshop.

Though the irony of a mouthpiece for a neo-Soviet Empire bi7ching about Nazis, real and imagined, isn’t lost on anyone save for the dopes who find virtue in what Putin is doing.

hey Ras, you never got back to me on what Bandera was doing from 1941 to 1944. I figured you would be able to tell me what he was doing, and it does have to do with the Nazis....

If @Rasputin_Vol and @volgr are so worried about the Nazis they should look up:
