I've really been interested in the Gripen for a long time. Maybe Ukraine will get some and we can see how they do in battle. Sweden has some very interesting ideas about aircraft dispersal and working off highways rather than big bases with immaculate runways which doesn't always match the reality of war.

Apparently they are supposed to be, but there just aren't many Gripens out in the world for comparison. An article I read some time ago said that the Swedish government hasn't pushed the sale of Gripens like most other countries push arms sales, and that it has limited the supply of Gripens. There's also a question about how fast they can be produced as I recall.

Another option, and possibly the best of all, would be Sweden's surplus JAS 39C/D Gripen multi-role fighters. These light-to-medium weight fighters are built with great efficiency and reliability in mind. They were designed to be turned around in the bush by tiny teams of mainly conscripted groundcrew and flown from roadways and rough fields during wartime. Distributed operations under very harsh sustained wartime conditions, especially in the cold, are literally what the design is all about.

Their single F404-derivative engine (license-built by Volvo) drinks comparatively small amounts of fuel compared to the other options and the type has a wide array of available armory from multiple nations. It has all-around good performance, modern radar and avionics, and is small in size, making it hard to spot visually.

So here we go with US retaliations... I wonder if we ever withheld miliary aid from Saudi Arabia (likely coming soon now that they are in BRICS+) when they were chopping off heads and executing 80+ people in the public square? I'll GOOGLE hat to find out. Also, I wonder if we have held back weapons from Israel, Ukraine, France, the UK etc for political prisoners and detentions. Hell, for that matter, should we defund our own military based on the detentions and attacks on political figures here at home???

Using their country to launch the initial invasion, using their territory to launch ballistic missile attacks against Ukrainian cities, providing munitions to Russian forces, hosting Russian troops, and allowing Wagner to relocate to Belarus. They are a party in every sense except for committing actual ground troops.

They aren't doing any more or any less than NATO/US based on those charges...

If you are seeing dead Polish and Baltic mercs being pulled out of Ukraine, then what is the difference outside of scale? Whether it is 10 or 10k troops that cross your border into Ukraine to fight, you are just as guilty and a participant.

And don't mention the weapons that are crossing over the borders from Romania and Poland.
