War Hawk Nikki Haley Calls Trump Weak On Ukraine

Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley, a staunch supporter of providing U.S. aid to Ukraine, criticized former President Donald Trump on the campaign trail, asserting he is “weak in the knees when it comes to Ukraine.”

Speaking at an event in New Hampshire, where she has surpassed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in some surveys, Haley attempted to tread lightly when it came to criticizing the former president.

She critiqued Trump not only on fiscal policy but also on his position on Ukraine, asserting that, “He used to be good on foreign policy and now he has started to walk it back and get weak in the knees when it comes to Ukraine.”

Haley is 100% establishment.

When my phone goes into "do not disturb" it rings to tell me I want quiet time. We have a car that beeps frantically when we put it in reverse if there is something in front of us, because I might crash into the thing in front of me while going backwards. Auto-correct sometimes tells me to do things that are incorrect or change the meaning. The financial crisis of 2008 included computer programs determining risk based on assumptions that were not always right. Technology without common sense just makes mistakes faster than a human could.

My car battery is apparently dying. The first clue was Wed when I got in to leave for an appointment. The starter just clattered. No problem because the garage has enough slope to roll the car out - I could either pop the clutch to start or connect the battery charger. Except my car has an electric parking brake. Now it's nice that you have a switch on the dash and no parking brake lever to get in the way sometimes. Only problem: apparently if the battery is low, the parking brake won't release. I have almost no room around the car when it's in the garage, but I pulled the inside hood release and barely got to the release under the hood - at least the struts raised the hood which would have been a problem from the side. Connected the charger and the car started immediately - I was like five minutes late but I'd called and told them I had a problem.

That's a case of something (a manual parking brake handle) that has worked for decades being replaced by something that actually maybe is a bit nicer ... but adds complexity and in this case was a problem. Under different circumstances it could actually have been a safety issue. I think when something has worked for years, leave it alone, it doesn't need to be different if different can't be proven to be better and more reliable.

The building strikes are likely to attrit naval leadership I’d guess. But the ships are still missile firing platforms regardless where they are.

Hmm, maybe but my guess is it gets the mouthbreathers excited and wanting to send them more money.

Why is Ukraine spending resources attacking naval assets in a mostly land war?

If Russia can't safely continue to use bases like Sevastopol because Crimea isn't safe, then trying to keep Crimea becomes less attractive. If Crimea goes back to Ukraine, then the land route down the annexed part of Ukraine isn't necessary. This land war looks to have a lot to do with the Russian Black Sea Fleet and Russia's scanty shoreline along the Black Sea. Russia for all its size really has a problem with ice free sea access. If China wanted to take back Vladivostok, that tightens the noose. Other than the Artic side Russia is really in a bind as a sea power.

Oh I think there’s some truth to scoring positive news points for sure too. I’d also add that depleting the Black Sea fleet also weakens Russia’s ability to blockade sea trade and Ukrainian grain exports too. There are a few really good reasons to remove the Black Sea fleet from the available list of Russian assets.

Your ignorance is showing again.

$20B to "end homelessness"?

Curious how this works. We buy all homeless people an apartment or condo or something? They get this for free? So I have a job, work, pay for my place to live, and pay taxes so a homeless person can have a place for free? Isn't this the basis of communism? You support this?

If no rent, who pays ongoing expenses like utilities, maintenance, taxes etc.? In other words, this really isn't a one-time lump-sum payment solution, is it?

Forced treatment for drug addicts and those that are homeless because of mental problems. Once the drug addicts are clean the enter job placement to help them achieve independence. That's what I'd do. Off the streets and immediately into rehab or mental treatment.
