War in Ukraine

It's not tactics ... it's logistics. Modern military equipment has to have fuel and parts. Hopefully the Russians are finding like we will that weapons complexity, remote battlefields, a long logistics tail for fuel and parts are not a marriage made in heaven. Our stuff like F-35s will be like a football team with unstoppable (but fragile) starters and no depth at all. KISS

It amazes me how the entire tone of this war has seemed to change overnight when the Russians didn't just walk through Ukraine. Suddenly the entire planet has seemed to unite to supply them weapons once they saw a country with a spine that defended itself. With that said, we should just say F off Germany and pull every single man woman and child from that sh!thole and say "you're on your own, we can sell you some weapons if you like".

Ukraine invasion: Russian conscripts reportedly forced to sign military contracts, losing contact with family

'I’m panicking — where is my child?' one woman reportedly says

Parents of Russian conscripts who say they've lost communications with their loved ones are pleading with Kremlin officials for answers as to where family members have been sent amid concerns they have been forced to sign contracts to fight as part of President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, according to the report.

Olga Larkina, the director of Russia’s Committee of Soldiers’ Mothers, spoke to Russian investigative news outlet Meduza, describing how Russian conscripts – those fulfilling military enlistment requirements – had been pressured, or at times even forced to sign contracts to become soldiers for the Russian military.

"Mothers are telling us that their sons have been calling them and saying they’re being forced to sign contracts. We believe it’s wrong to force a conscript to become a contract soldier," Larkina said, according to the translated article. "The parents who have gotten in touch have told us their sons were just taken by military officers, stamped, and that’s it — now they’re contract soldiers."

"Germany said Saturday its army would transfer 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger-class surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine, a U-turn from its longstanding policy of banning weapon exports to conflict zones.

France was also carrying out deliveries of defensive weapons to Kyiv, according to its military. Ukraine's embassy in Paris said it had in particular requested anti-aircraft hardware."

There's no way they only have MANPADs. If they did, the Russians could just fly above 10,000 ft and take out targets with bombers.

They must have some other more powerful SAMs for them to be able to control the airspace in such a way.

How does Russia offer up Putin, that guy IS Russia from a political point of view. There would have to be a coup and I can't see that happening.
Would have to be a revolution. Not rare in that country so it's possible. Would be interesting to see in modern day.

Yes, we should move the German bases to Poland. They want us there and are willing to pay us to be there.
