War in Ukraine

Makes me wonder....does anyone feel that Russia will be some resource draining occupying force with an insurgent belligerent Ukrainian populace? No way Jose...this does not pass the sniff test.
We don't know 90% of this.
If this goes off, I could easily see this being very similar to how the Taliban was able to essentially walk back into power in short order and all of those weapons that the US provided being wasted.

You may not find this groundswell of Russian resistance that the US warhawks are expecting.

Putin wants the band back together that’s it. Everything doesn’t have to be such a vast conspiracy. Sometimes the truth is simple, Russia is a 2nd rate power trying to cling to what little influence it has in its former sphere by any means.
And NATO is making the case for him with their provocations.

We could have crushed him by extending our NatGas production and export capabilities and quashing Nordstream. We chose to go a different direction and keep hope alive for him.
How in the hell were we going to transport and sell natural gas to Europe at a competitive price and more efficiently than a Russian pipeline?

Only Cold War Fools Hit Replay On Doomsday | ZeroHedge

Excuse me while my youthful 28-year-old self asks my cranky 58-year-old self a few questions: What the hell happened? Dammit, we won the Cold War three decades ago. Decisively so! How, then, could we have allowed a new one to emerge? Why would any sane nation want to refight a war that it had already won at enormous cost? Who in their right mind would want to hit the "replay" button on such a costly, potentially cataclysmic strategic paradigm as deterrence through MAD, or mutually assured destruction?

Pedo Joe basically gave the OK to Putin to invade Ukraine, as long as its a "minor" invasion..

I'm sure the folks who thought Trump was a Russian agent will be fuming mad and foaming at the mouth to finally get themselves a Russian agent President. Right?

They were not going to take over the world. They would have had their hands full trying to maintain control of Europe.

So, I gather you're equally opposed to the fact that the French helped us beat the English in the Revolutionary War.

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!!!

France's role in the Revolutionary War was not for our benefit, it was solely for their hatred of the British. Technology changes and wars have changed, the chances of Russia and the US getting sucked into a much larger war with much more dire consequences are likely if we get involved in a major way in Ukraine. The hatred between the Ukraine and Russia has existed and will exist much longer than this present escalation. The US has no need to be involved. It is a Europe problem that needs to be solved with European solutions. It is not a US problem. Y'all act as if a conflict between the US and Russia would occur in a vacuum with no possibilities of further escalation. You are talking about two nations with massive nuclear arsenals and while the US wouldn't use them. I don't think anyone could say with certainty that Russia wouldn't especially if it went badly for them. There is no rationalization for a massive war over the Ukraine or any other former Soviet nation. Russia is doing what Russia has done for the past 50 years and that is threaten its neighbors with further expansion. I have zero faith in our current political or military leadership to be able to undertake any kind of complex role in Ukraine and it isn't worth sparking WW3 as nearly occurred in Korea which just so happen to be right next door to another rival of ours.

US gave permission to the Baltic states to start transferring military equipment to Ukraine including more Javelins and now more importantly Stinger missiles.

NATO assets? Or what kind of arrangement is this that requires US permission?

As in “just give them what you’ve got on hand as quick as you can and we will replace them” or what? Why is our permission needed here?

If it is our technology maybe the agreement is people can’t transfer that equipment to other nations without our approval????? Throwing darts.
