It's just bad precedent that will be turned around and used on US citizens.

If they have proof the owner is tied into, is part of the Russian government or in business with Putin, ok I can somewhat understand.

An oligarch is nothing more than a business tycoon, just like the politically-connected American oligarchs. Animosity for their politics aside, many would have a problem if China were to begin seizing the property of Tim Cook, Zuck, Bezos, etc.

Tried making a donation via Ukrainian’s national bank yesterday (was denied by Bank of America) but while doing so I thought how amazing it would be if they sold Russian dog tags or other spoils of war to fund their war efforts.

Define influence. I am sure Bill Gates and other extremely wealthy people can get a word with the POTUS when they want. That too is influence. Hell our whole system of government is highly influenced by wealthy people and their donations.

This is economic warfare.

Oh I know it is; I just become concerned about the precedent the asset seizures set. It's one thing to refuse to do business with someone in order to hurt them economically. Nobody has to do business with anyone; both sides of the transaction have to engage. I don't have a problem with removing their banks from SWIFT, cutting swap lines with the Russian Central Bank, the Germans getting out of a pipeline deal with them, etc.

It's another to just take someone's property when it is there for the taking because you don't like something their government did. That will eventually be used against "regular people," and those doing it will point to this current situation as the rationale/justification for it.
