It was a long shot, especially when you consider the boneheaded decisions the Europeans have made recently, but you had to hope that the guys in the front of the class would eventually take control of things. Wise decision to leave out Blinken/US and the UK.

This would effectively be a EU partnership and move away from NATO...Leaves the Eastern Euro nations in quite a bind if NATO is disbanded, as they are adamantly against the liberal EU policies

We never should have been involved in these regional European matters in the first place. Especially now when our own country has issues on it's own borders and within it's own borders.

Some of you guys are hilarious:

1) NATO and the Europeans suck and don't do anything and Biden and the Dems suck for relying on NATO and Europe, and Trump was right to dis NATO and Europe because they are so ineffective.

2) Ha ha, the European members of NATO are going to meet with Russia to discuss this and the US is left out.

And on the other side of that coin, 22 million Russians lost their lives because of Germany. Strange bedfellows.. With Russia, Germany and France sitting down in the same room, it almost sounds like how are we going to divide up Europe. Not a party in that room, that I would trust as far as I could throw them. When I say divide up I am referencing economic influence.

We haven’t been able to rely on other NATO nations to pull their weight and pay for NATO services. That’s well known. I don’t think anyone in here has their feelings hurt that European NATO countries have taken a lead role now. They’re just acknowledging it and have said they should step up within their own region. We will see if Putin plays along. I think you’re misreading the room. Given their performance to date, I don’t think many are too concerned that Biden and his team aren’t at the table.

You miss my point. People on the one hand criticize Biden for his reliance on Europe and say Europe should do more, and then when they do more, the criticism is 180 and relies on Biden not being oart of the process.

And of course that assumes we aren't involved, which I am sure we are.

NATO is a + but that doesn't mean we let them dik us around and that is what Trump recognized. He was actually trying to make NATO stronger because the more you have invested then the more loyal you are.

This adminstration is incompetent. Germany knows it, others know it which means they can't be trusted with reconciling this in a way the ultimately leads to a net positive for the region. That appears to be what's being exploited here.

No I didn't. You want to see your point but it ain't in what I said. Overall I think NATO is a force for good. That doesn't mean you give them everything like what the Biden administration appears to have been trying to do. There is no accountability in this adminstration. They have shown to be failures with the exception of world appeasement in their foreign policy. Only you're too blind to see it.

Please. Can you imagine if Trump were POTUS now? Ukraine, Finland, and Poland would be Russian states already.

Trump would claim its good because it tells the UK, France, and Germany that we aren't going to abide by Article 5.
