War in Ukraine

Agreed it is good for our political class. Sure it has pushed EU against Russia - but pushed Russia right into the loving embrace of China and India. All the while, screwing the hell out of almost every American who isnt in DC.
Actually I see it a a total negative. It has exposed weaknesses in the Russian Military which will give them the opportunity to fix problems. They will remove inefficient officers, replace inefficient weapons systems, and come up with new tactics to deal with portable anti tank weapons. Better if these shortcomings remained unknown so they could be exploited when necessary for our interests

I have no complaint with him pointing that out. We all know its true that gas prices and other prices are going to go up. The debate is, is it worth it? That's a legitimate debate.

But Carlson prior to this rally around the Brave Ukrainians moment, was very much both dismissing Biden's warnings AND justifying Putin's bravado.

The record on this is absolutely clear. It is not debatable.

He has tried to back off his earlier comments since then and to rehabilitate his image. Up to you whether you are going to let him off the hook. I'm not.

He'd have more credibility if he just admitted that Biden was right and he was wrong.

Likewise, I have no problem with him pointing out the truth.

Biden’s warnings and Putin’s bravado....again mostly truth. The problem I have with Biden’s warnings is his disregard in changing his perceived outcome beforehand, with diplomacy...if nothing else.

Murdered as they fled: First pictures of Mother, Son, 18, and Daughter, nine, who were all Wiped Out by Putin's Bombs as they tried to flee city of Irpin during sham 'ceasefire' in photo that sickened the world

A devoted mother-of-two who was mercilessly killed alongside her young children by Russian shelling during a 'ceasefire' was a high-ranking accountant who had previously fled violence in Donetsk, it was revealed today.

Tatyana Perebeynos was killed alongside her daughter Alise, nine, and son Nikita, 18, after Russian artillery rained down on the trio alongside as they desperately fled the besieged town of Irpin, Ukraine.

The photographs of the young family lifelessly sprawled out across the roadside, with their two terriers whimpering nearby, sent shockwaves across the world as it became clear that Vladimir Putin's 'humanitarian corridors' were simply a mirage.

Ms Perebeynos would never get to realise her own dreams. Living in fear of Russian invaders, she, Alise and Nikita hadn't been able to flee Irpin earlier because they were taking care of her sick mother

Not going to happen anytime soon.. Keep dreaming.
I didn’t say it would be real soon. This Ukraine mess has been a decade in the making. The US and investors have been looking at decoupling from China since they nationalized sectors of their economy about a year ago. I’m pretty sure we already have plans for alternative chip manufacturing if Taiwan goes down

Legitimate criticism. I don't know what more he could have done. He saber rattled plenty about sanctions, which have largely come to pass. He could not threaten a US military response. Fact is, the options were fairly limited and it sure seems like the World is taking real combined action on this to try to get Putin to back down at some point sooner rather than later.

Don't know if it will work. But don't see a ton of options.

Putin sinks to new low: Maternity Hospital is Bombed, with Children Buried Under Rubble in Mariupol, where '3,000 babies are without food or medicine', while Russian troops round up 400 Ukrainian 'hostages' in Kherson

A maternity hospital in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol has been decimated in a 'direct hit' by Russian rockets leaving children buried in the rubble, President Zelensky has said, in what he described as an 'atrocity.'

Zelensky posted a video showing the badly damaged hospital buildings, filmed inside a destroyed ward room with its windows blown out and ceiling partially collapsed. More footage showed a car park covered in rubble and the smouldering wrecks of vehicles as injured families evacuated into the freezing air while snow fell.

'Direct strike of Russian troops at the maternity hospital. People, children are under the wreckage. Atrocity! How much longer will the world be an accomplice ignoring terror? Close the sky right now! Stop the killings! You have power but you seem to be losing humanity,' he tweeted.

The UK's Foreign Secretary Liz Truss described the hospital attack as 'absolutely abhorrent', but continued to reject Ukraine's request for a no-fly zone to be imposed over its skies.

Just hours before the hospital was hit, Ukrainian foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba warned that 3,000 babies were without food or medicines and begged for a humanitarian corridor to allow them to flee. Moscow had promised a ceasefire in the city today so civilians could be evacuated, but failed for the fourth time to keep its word.

A Russian attack severely damaged the children's hospital and maternity ward in the besieged port city of Mariupol, Ukrainian officials said. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter that there were 'people, children under the wreckage' of the hospital and called the strike an 'atrocity.'

Russia admits it sent young conscripts into its Ukraine war after Putin denied those troops were involved

Russia's military admitted on Wednesday that young draftees were sent to fight in its war against Ukraine after Russian President Vladimir Putin denied that conscripts were involved in the attack.

"Unfortunately, some facts have come to light about the presence of conscript servicemen among the Russian armed forces conducting the special military operation on Ukrainian territory," said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

"Practically all of the conscripts have been returned to the territory of the Russian Federation," Konashenkov added.
Konashenkov said, however, that some of the conscripts have been captured.

Earlier this week, Putin said that only "professional" Russian soldiers were sent in to invade Ukraine and that he would not send conscripts to fight, according to The Moscow Times.

Ras....... Please wake up dude. This is what you sound like.

While I agree every side pushes propoganda, The Russians in this case don't even attempt to put forth a serious denial. They don't need to, because in Russia you either tow the line, get out of the way and shut up..... Or you're moved and silenced.

I'd stop carrying water for Putin here if I were you. It's an indefensible position.
I'm not pulling for Putin, but rooting against these people in the West that he is fighting against. Not the average everyday citizens in the West, but the leaders and decision makers that have destroyed the economies and cultures of these countries.

You're seeing it yourself right here in America. These people have left this country vulnerable not just militarily... put that to the side. We are not energy independent and we outsourced a majority of our industrial capacity. The Constitution may as well be a joke after COVID and we have the most corrupt media on the planet.

These people are not doing us any favors with any decision they make. These people cannot be this stupid, so it has to be done on purpose.

The use of “professional” and “special military operation” reminds of the Denzel Washington movie Man on Fire. Same type of folk. Where all the thugs kept referring to themselves as “professional”.

You would think if they were going to fix something, they would have after the overwhelming ass whipping of Russian's "feared" Wagner merc group in Syria in 2018. 500 Syria forces, including 3 T-72s and multiple supporting vehicles went against 40 of our Delta and JSOC guys at a small outpost. About half their guys died and none of our guys were even hurt. a nice write up of it in NYT - How a 4-Hour Battle Between Russian Mercenaries and U.S. Commandos Unfolded in Syria (Published 2018) and in wikipedia Battle of Khasham - Wikipedia

What I WISH I saw here instead was that every one of us was carrying water for AMERICA and keeping their wits about them, whilst corrupt leaders from many sides try to get us to do their dirty work.

The only way to lift this country out of the ditch is to not let the people that got us here continue driving. They are not only at war with Americans, they are at war with humanity. Nothing they are doing right now is a benefit to average citizens anywhere. They are able to use Ukraine as their emotional appeal to achieve whatever long term goals they have in mind.

They need to be defeated "by any means necessary".

If so, what is the likelihood it is brought back to the US with the people we have running things?

real good chance since there is about 2.5 billion being invested in a chip plant in Ohio.
So a plant in Ohio and another plant I heard of in Arizona. So outside of maybe a handful of others that may or be in the works, I doubt very seriously that the people in charge ate going to do any significant. But we shall see...

You have to think that if the Russian people saw these photos of what their military was doing, and learned the truth about the entire situation, that Putin's life wouldn't be worth a nickel. I get the policy against assassination, and you never know if the guy coming in behind him might be worse but watching this its tough not to wonder to myself what would I do if I found myself armed and standing in a room with Putin right now.

I just get the feeling that many Russians (older especially) feel the invasion is acceptable regardless of the brutality. The video footage I have seen of Police detaining antiwar protesters look to be people that are my age or much younger.

Didn’t you just post a tweet saying there was no real war? Make up your mind psycho. “I’m not rooting for Putin but cheering against the West”. Gtfo of here with that BS

People in a Totalitarian state learn to live with willful blindness. No matter what they said after the war, a large number of Germans had a very good ability to know about the Holocaust and the other atrocities and brutality of the Third Reich but closed their eyes to them, partly to protect their physical safety but also largely to not have to deal with an uncomfortable conscience. The few brave enough to speak out were carted of to the camps themselves or else simply vanished under a “Nacht und Nebel” (Night and fog) order and were never seen nor heard from again. I assume a similar mindset is occurring among the vast majority of Russians now.
