Oh I understand what you’re saying. I don’t think I’d do that and I’d hope any professional officer would refuse an order to directly attack civilians and healthcare facilities. But based on whom is directing the invading asshats here this surprises no one I’m sure.Kinda like a police action or peace keeping. I get the tongue in cheek response.
I am just saying if I am sending my countrymen to risk their life, I will wage war in the most despicable manner possible against my opponent. With that said, I hope Ukranians fend off the tyrant.
Let's turn the tables a bit.Oh I understand what you’re saying. I don’t think I’d do that and I’d hope any professional officer would refuse an order to directly attack civilians and healthcare facilities. But based on whom is directing the invading asshats here this surprises no one I’m sure.
We can no longer have a discussion if you can't see the destruction and chaos that US and UK have done over the last 200 years.
Let's turn the tables a bit.
Taliban are hiding weapons and personnel in schools, daycare, and hospitals. They come out via underground and use guerilla tactics to kill many American service personnel.
Would you favor a "do no harm to innocents" approach in that scenario?
Yep. And they did just that BTW. We’re the more capable force. Send in spec ops and kill the bastards. Plus most all of our officers I believe would refuse the order anyway.Let's turn the tables a bit.

Completely in line with my point. Once I know my opponent has self imposed ethical and moral boundaries, I will exploit those limitations at every opportunity to gain an advantage. I on the other side of the conflict, would not adhere to any limitations thus denying my opponent any exploitation. We avoid such targets all the time like that and the Taliban/Al qaeda know this. They use to our disadvantage which is why urban warfare has been a disaster for us
Goldman's out too
It wasn't. I am not bringing the sensitivities of a father, or a man living a very comfortable life, or someone who has never worried about war outside his door. I am bringing the ruthlessness and evil cunning which brings advantage to the conflict. If war is important enough to wage, it should be important enough to wage quickly, efficiently, and with every intention of victory.luthervol said:I hope blue font was implied.
They probably would. I certainly would if I were an officer. Perhaps this is one reason we suck at war.Yep. And they did just that BTW. We’re the more capable force. Send in spec ops and kill the bastards. Plus most all of our officers I believe would refuse the order anyway.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1Precisely and that is the problem with many of the wars we have engaged in recent history, they were questionable at best and we didn't seem very interested in winning them militarily. War should always be last resort and should be fought to win. If they aren't a last resort and aren't fought to win then we have no business being in them.
Ukraine joining NATO is absolutely a security concern for Russia, no matter who the leader happens to be. Us putting massive funding into the likes of the Asov Battalion is also a security concern for any Russian leader.A free and democratic Ukraine is not a security concern for Russia.
It's a security concern for Putin and his cronies.
That is cringe worthy
Oh we’re excellent at war. We kill better than near anybody in history has we are one of the most warlike people to ever walk the earth. We just suck at “winning the peace”.They probably would. I certainly would if I were an officer. Perhaps this is one reason we suck at war.
If I were commander, any officer not obeying would be executed and replaced.
But wait there’s more! Now click on the guys Twitter bio and see his background. Not anymore cringe worthy than anything else taken out of context and reported these days. I believe those numbers were for the entire Normandy campaign which lasted around 3 months (90 days vs the 14 or so days currently for Russia's campaign). Also, weapons/information were considerable less accurate almost 80 years ago. To even compare the 2 number is ignorant to begin with. Also, the entire world was at war then and people were dying all over the globe. To pull this one number out of that war is very misleading.
