War in Ukraine

FWIW my girlfriend's 22 YO daughter is in her 4th week of Army bootcamp @ Ft. Jackson, GA. Beat every damn guy in her squad in the physical tests last week. Friggin millennial guys... come on man!

At any rate, yeah, we support no American boots on the ground. Hope we avoid WWIII. In the meantime, send the kitchen sink over there materiel wise.

Again, no one can answer the question, how does picking a side in this ridiculous conflict help the average American citizen. If you're worried about Ukrainians, they are taking foreign fighters and there are people who will pay your way over there.
I've been asking that same question. All I get (from both neocons and neo-liberals) is the feelz.

Things have changed just a tad.

Not really. The consequences JQA predicted for such actions were actually pretty spot on. We cant be friendly with Russia and Ukraine and let them sort out their differences? Do we really care who controls Crimea and the Donbass if we are friendly with both sides?

When you bang war drums all the while asking other people to send their sons and daughters to war while keeping your own safe doesn't exactly ring many peoples bells about teaching.
What? My son chose to not join the military. I don't want him trying to pull over a drunk driver because he chose not to be a LEO.
I don't want him performing surgery because he chose not to be a surgeon. I don't want him representing someone in court because he chose not to be a lawyer.....I guess you get the point.

Yes. All of our wars in the past have made us more peaceful now.

Remind me how well the War to End all Wars went?
That's because we hadn't reached the point where it could be the War to End all Wars - that takes a global commitment.

They are probably like the balsa wood planes I flew as a kid, unless everything is just right they go straight up and do a loop and come back down and kill the entire platoon.

For like $50 you can go buy one of those lightweight RC 2-channel planes..I got into somewhat several years ago, and those things will go up so high you can barely see them. Quite a rush trying to bring her down. It is fun...I may have to get back into it. I upgraded and probably spent $600-700 on the things

Don't ask for war unless you are willing to send your son/daughters to do the fighting.

I'm guessing your girlfriend's daughter must have gained an advantage by being the only one smart enough to put down their cell phone while performing the physical tests.

I get your point, you want other people's kids to fight for you. As long as your family is safe, send in the expendables.

When did it become appropriate for countries to declare war on Hitler's Germany? Only when they were attacked?

That's stupid. I want people who join the military to perform the function of the military. I want doctors to be doctors. I want lawyers to be lawyers. I want plumbers to be plumbers. It's not a difficult concept.
