War in Ukraine

On the whole, I think most conservatives and liberals are dunces. And if you think political affiliation is, in any way, a determining factor of intelligence, I'd lump you in the same category.

There's nothing wrong with a person choosing a political stance. The funny thing is I'm fiscally conservative but disagree with other things considered conservative - that's probably more a libertarian view overall. The point obviously lost on you is that science - the real stuff - defines gender and a lot of other stuff that seems to confuse people in the liberal camp. Thus my viewpoint that conservatives tend to better understand science and let's say if not more intelligent they are at least more rational. Better?

You might also say that someone like Marx was probably intelligent but too attached to a philosophy to be rational. To think that a socialist/communist state can exist with normal, thinking, breathing human beings is foolish ... with robots it could work.

Why? Can't Europe do something in their own backyard? When do we stop?

Basically because you have the US, Russia, China, and everybody else. A lot of the issue has to do with landmass and resources - again the same big three. Russia and China at odds is a problem for them because they share a common border (would be long and protracted or quick and nuclear), but still if you look at war with Russia and China it's like getting sucked in and devoured by a huge fluffy pillow. The suck you in deeper and deeper, then destroy your logistics, and have you piecemeal for lunch. The more Russia and China annex countries like Ukraine, the bigger the pillow gets and the worse for an invader. Look at WW2; Germany had it's way with most of Europe, couldn't handle Britain because of US support and because Britain had a lot of water protecting it, and Russia just absorbed what Germany sent at it. Russia moved factories out of reach and again like Britain had US support.

Hitler's interference allowed the Russians to survive the invasion. Had he stayed out of it once the plans were approved Germany would have taken Moscow.

Didn't Germany have plans to cut off Russia's access to oil, but Hitler overruled them?

True. But...

We spend 2.1 trillion on Afghanistan and lose 2,500 American soldiers as revenge for 3,000 killed in NY.

In contrast, we spend 800M and lose 0 American soldiers in exchange for stopping Russian cold.

Which is wiser policy?
Neither.

Wisdom and American foreign policy are mutually exclusive.

Yes, but then they would have still just gotten started in Russia, and Russia would have absorbed the German forces as they moved further east. Germany would have faced problems with logistics, guerillas in their midst, and just dug deeper into a hole that would have absorbed them. Russia had already moved entire factories from western Russia back into the Urals - and they had a lot more land to give if necessary. Eventually you run out of troops to cover the landmass, and it's like realizing you have a tiger by the tail and wondering how you get out of it. Invading China would be very similar.

It's as if no one realizes we're in a bit of debt already. But hey, what good are US taxpayers if their politicians can't waste a bunch of money overseas?

Reminds me of a song, but with a difference. It's sad to have wasted time and resources in places not worth being when the right cause comes along and you are deep in debt.
