War in Ukraine

Talk about alternate realities...knowing that he was on international TV, tRump puts out this complete fabrication of events. Disgusting, vile, cruel Orange Gargoyle.

That's absolutely the truth, he indicated they would never sign another deal with the Russians (at least that is me listening to it live).

If you want to go over there you can, nobody ever signs up. Join the brave, keep us posted.

Z corrected them and Vance deflected and tried to bully Z into sucking them off on air. Did they think this made them look good?

Seems like Trump knew Z wasn't signing and wanted to set this up to slander him on live TV and push his own narrative.

Another dog and pony show for the unwashed masses.

He didn't sign the mineral deal either?

I heard him say they would never sign another deal with the Russians or similar. That isn't going to work.

That is what we said it would be. That's the Ukraine. 😂

This is EXACTLY what I said would happen. Trump's goal is to help Putin and this was a set-up to make it look like it is Zelensky the one being unreasonable and a barrier to a resolution.

Putin is winning.
--Zelensky now realizes he is not dealing a demented, corrupt, weak dimwitted Biden any more but is dealing with Trump who is all business putting Anerica first, not Ukraine.

--Putin is just more savvy than Zelensky who just shown himself to be a complete idiot. Zelensky and the left want to keep the war going for $$$$$$ while Trump wants peace.

--Zelensky is too stupid to listen to Trump. In the art of the deal you give both sides concessions so both can walk away from the table claiming a victory.

---it is totally UREASONABLE for Zelensky thinking he can order around the US.

It backs Zelensky into an impossible corner. And Trump gets to beat his chest and call Zelensky an ingrate and obstructionist.

Here's another issue I was thinking about last night..... And this one has been brewing for some time......

One of the issue we have as a country, foreign diplomacy wise, is that our government changes so often. Priorities change under executive order and foreign policy.

The problem is as I see that our partners or potential partners are going to have a difficult time deciding to commit to agreements with us unless they are absolutely binding. One president does A, the next wants B.

Another reason we are likely to lose prestige worldwide among partners.

In this conflict, as well as with the Israeli conflict weak leadership led to weakened status and magnified chinks that adversaries, and even allies were able to exploit.

So far I think Trump is doing a decent job of doing what he said he would do....... But I think he's gone about it in harsh damaging ways, damaging to us, to him and to his parties chances of being successful in the next elections.

Just like the $500 billion deal that would wreck Ukraine's economy long term, this stunt was just another attempt by Trump to try to make Zelensky look like an obstacle to "peace" and by peace Trump means surrender.

Put Zelensky in an impossible position, and then cry foul when he won't accept an untenable solution, and keep repeating nonsense about Putin being sincere in his desired to "end the conflict" so the MAGA cult can be all like:

Assume you were in that position what would you do?There really is only two choices, he's just being blunt about it. He keeps telling them the same thing but Europe and the Mad Jester need to extend this and get the U.S. involved, there is no plan past that.... so they are acting like they don't know.

"Pretty please"

The midget made it too obvious, they're not going to sign any agreement with the Russians.

Reasonable to say Trump was done with Ukraine well before this meeting. He should have just said so. No need for this. His base is already behind him on the issue. And this didn't bring anyone on to his side.

His point is correct. He was also a dumbass for correcting anyone in front of the press. His existence is reliant on Trump backing him. Dumb move.

I don't recall Zelensky having a say in setting up a meeting with the press in the oval office. Vance is either utterly, and inexplicably ignorant of Russia's nonadherence to any agreements with Ukraine, or it was a willful lie on his part.

Either way, bringing that up to the president of a country that has been occupied by Russia for over a decade, and in an all out war with them for the last 3 years, was one of the dumbest things that I've watched a US politician do on live TV.

Zelensky was 100% justified in calling Vance out on that BS.

And economists agreed we had managed to avoid it ....

... until now. If there is a recession, its on Trump and the GOP for not calling out his incompetence.
How do you suppose we avoided it?

Fed Rates are the same, inflation was higher, job growth was not steady despite government efforts to inflate the figures.

If we are almost in a recession now, then we have almost been in a recession for a long time. Just more screeching now.

Well it got him screwed up the arse. Now he likely was anyway. But he didn't help himself.

It's important to have the right people in the right places at significant points in history.
Trump's failures at supporting Ukraine and Zelensky today is an example of having the wrong person in place.
Imagine FDR taking the same approach with Churchill during WWII, and siding with Hitler against European nations.

I don't fault him for it, he's fighting for his countries existence at this point. He was promised cooperation and commitment from the prior admin and it churned too long for the public and support waned.

He's been put in a terrible position and just walked into an ambush by the people that are going to try to negotiate a ceasefire and peace plan.

Part of me wonders if Trump strategy is to make Zelenski want us out and bring Europe in to the lead and try to negotiate this.

So the only option is to stop sending money that will do nothing or go fight a war? You going?

Tariffs threats, on and off and on again, wildly all over the place; aimless layoffs, sometimes reversed; and over uncertainty at Trump's mercurial tendency to chase the newest bright shiny object that comes into view, are causing consumer and investor confidence to plummet. The figures from sentiment measures just the last 45 days prove that conclusively.
