I'm white. Drive a new car. Where a suit to work. When I first came back down here I was driving around trying to decide where to move my family. It was between Hendersonville and Brentwood. We were driving back from a subdivision in Gallatin right of Johnny Cash parkway and I was doing 55, the speed limit. I suddenly get pulled over by a complete douche of a police officer. I said I thought it was 55 and he said no it changed to 45 right back there. He was sitting right after the speed change. I said I didnt see it and thought I was doing the speed limit. I had all the kids in the car and my wife. I looked real threatening. I told him I was about to move back home and honestly thought I was doing the speed limit. He looked at me and said well when you move back you'll now know the correct speed.

This is one reason we did not end up in Hendersonville. Guy could have easily said I understand and warned me. He didnt have to go all God trip.

Been here 20 years. Never have seen any stretch between Gallatin and Hendersonville that was 55 on Gallatin Road. Justice is blind. You were speeding and got a ticket. The fact that you were a white guy wearing a suit makes no difference. Does the suit make you better or less threatening than someone who dresses in urban attire?

Just because you didn't know the speed limit doesn't change the fact that you we're going over. Don't get pissed off at the police for enforcing the law.

Stand down, Citizen!!!

A cop making a point to harass a guy with kids in the car for 10 over is a piece of shat, in my book.

20% OF COPS ARE COPS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND HELP.

80% ARE JUST D-BAGS LOOKING TO MAKE THEMSELVES FEEL IMPORTANT.

This is going to create some really bad situations.

I think I've arrested you before and you didn't talk like that in the car.

A friend of mine called today, pissed because she got a speeding ticket on Kingston Pike. She felt that because there was so much traffic, and she was going roughly the speed of traffic, she shouldn't have gotten a ticket. But she was 20 over the speed limit.

I think it's a dick move to give someone like that a ticket, but technically she WAS speeding. She wanted to go to court to fight it, but I explained that the court costs would double the price of the fine, and she might have to pay about the same amount anyway in court fees even if she things were found in her favor-- which they wouldn't be, because by her own admission she was speeding.

Anyway, yes the executive powers over the average citizen have gotten out of control.

In some places, 20 mph over on Kingston pike is 70mph. Your friend should consider herself lucky she didn't get a reckless driving citation.

I understand the "moving with the flow of traffic", but that really only works on the interstate. Depending on which part of KP she was on, moving 20mph over limit between red lights just seems stupid.

I totally agree. The cop actually did her a solid because she was 20 over, but he only wrote her a ticket for 5 over. She's still pissed, but he practically let her off with a warning. She's to stubborn to realize that though.

Any time I've ever been cited with a 5 over, I was told I could take it to court and have it dismissed.

Never had to pay court costs, or pay for anything, just stand in line until I got to see the person in charge of allowing the ticket to be paid. And they always just marked it dismissed and handed it back to me for my "records."

Why bother citing you then?

If they need numbers to justify their existence, to where they bother people, perhaps they shouldn't be there. Just my $.02.

Several states have laws against quotas now. I think Tennessee is one of them.

But, it wasn't to justify their existence, it was to help their eval.

As an NCO, did you ever go out and PT your team, squad, platoon, or whatnot, hard and with tons of cadence, because you knew your FITREP/Pros/Cons depended on it?

Same thing.

Well, we never killed anybody, we did hard PT as we were a scout platoon and took pride in it. Drink til 3am, run 5 at 630am, such is life.

I think it's different than harassing the populace as a "peace officer"

I always considered moto runs harassment. I never minded a boots and uts run, with pack, for however many miles the platoon wanted to go, but I never enjoyed the green on green and glow belt Bn runs, simply because someone wanted to show someone else that we could run slower than a walk and sing stupid songs to show "motivation and dedication."

BN runs in a light infantry BN weren't terrible (slow, but like 7:30 slow); DIV runs though...I think we were going at a 12:00 pace. Absolutely awful and a waste of time.

The once a month "Squadron PT" was queer as a 3 peckered mule. Waste of time, as you said,
