Was Golesh the "secret sauce" to the Heupel offense?

No. Golesh was good, but Hendon Hooker played a BIG role in our success too.
According to other posters only Nico can throw the deepball and we must not have remembered the failures of watchign Peyton, Ainge, Clausen, Tee Martin, Dobbs, or Hendon Hooker throw it......

So Bama isn't a big boy in this league? We have beat them.2 of the last 3
Look, you can't minimize the impact of Saban's departure. If you wanna stick you head in the sand and proclaim UT is a superior program, that's fine. Once the dust settles and Debore gets established, you will see a change with Bama. Enjoy the moment. It will most certainly be short lived.

you must not have watched Peyton, Ainge, Clausen, Tee Martin, Dobbs, or Hendon Hooker throw it.......Hell you could even add Tyler Bray to that list....that dude could sling it around but was a mental case and had no defense whatsoever.
this post fried my brain and should be archived for the world to see in 500 years

so you're saying i am wrong that nico can't throw a deep ball, that you believe he can throw them all day,

but peyton, ainge, clausen, tee martin, dobbs, and hooker could not throw the deep ball like nico? i've read the post 50 times and it still is trolling

Heupel is calling what will give the inept offense the best chance to win and he was 10-2. We need more NIL money to compete with the big dawgz
Money is the answer to everything, right? Regardless how much the fans give, it will never be enough. See the game here? Unfortunately, life has other priorities.

So we’re on the same page then?

You could say that about no less than half of the threads/posts on this site.

ORIGINAL POST. "its cause every time i have ever seen a deep ball thrown by the vols i know for a fact it wont land in our receivers arms

its like nico has a 5% chance of being accurate deep,
then our receivers have another 5% chance of catching his accurate passes
so it is basically a lottery winner when we do so and I use the remote control to go back 15 seconds and record those plays with my phone because it feels special"

I believe you need to reread things. The reply was saying all those other QB's hit deep balls all the time. Now the post was only talking about this year, it should not have the word "ever" in it

Yeah ahahaha exactly... Imaging replying passive aggressively with an argument to a post you agree with like he did, it short circuited my brain trying to understand it
The post says every time we throw it deep, it won't land in our receivers arms....meaning we never complete deep passes....but those other QB's did it all the time...

First how is that passive agressive? And I don't agree with the post saying we never complete deep balls.

Just don't say every time I HAVE EVER seen....ever means more than this year. Confusing.....

If you mean this year, absolutely! Joe may have been more accurate. Maybe Nico gets better, maybe we move on from him....

We have beaten Bama twice. We have beaten SC last year, we have beaten teams who have three years of tape on us and cant stop us? How? Because we have better players than they do, our players beat their players regardless if they know what is coming. UGA and OSU had players who beat our guys.
Thanks for repeating yourself. I don’t think this dead horse needs to be beaten with the dumb club anymore. I made the observation that three different teams have expressed that our plays are picked up by situation and formation, and your retort is that water is wet. Yes, talent matters. You aren’t discovering new frontiers with that observation. Without the sleight of hand of tempo, teams caught on. SC beat the crap out of us, and reported after the game that they knew what we were calling next. Same story with the big Mizzou loss, and Georgia and OSU. Is OSU betted than us at every position? Yes. Does that negate the fact that our offense has become predictable to the point that it’s a running joke? No.

you said we cant compete with the big boys. Bama is in the big boy club and we beat them two of the last 3. That is not an observation but rather a fact. SC beat us in 2022 with signals from michigan, which would have been hard to overcome. UGA has had better players than us the last 4 years. OSU had better receivers than we have secondary. Both of those guys will play on Sunday. We did the same thing to teams in 2022 when we had 2 guys who are playing on Sunday.

If you read the whole thread I state that we need to go fast or our offense is average and predictable, the last 2 years we have not had a QB capable of going fast.......

This. We need to change things up. For an example, you can only run so many routes with receivers at the sidelines.
Finally someone said it. Those super wide splits all the past the numbers can also hurt us as much as help us. I’d go the Chip Kelly route (from his oregon ducks days). They used to be in the super wide spread. Used switch route concepts up the sidelines. While still running slants and go routes. Ran zone and power from shotgun and had top rushing offenses. While using a ton of playaction to open up the passing game. Had a high octane high tempo offense. Feel like it would compliment heupels offense very well with what he already has. Marcus Mariota and Nico are pretty similar. Quick and mobile but not game breaking speed fast And both can sling the rock. That offense won Mariota a heisman and nearly a natty

You think that is limits of the system or limits of the personnel running the system?
The system is innovative, but the play calling is predictable. It relies on mismatches and tempo. We didn’t have much of either this year. Ultimately we’ll need to evolve. I definitely don’t think it’s time to scrap it. Heupel is a very innovative offensive coach. He has some beliefs that I think he should adapt, but he’s no dummy.
